Description

School in the Atlanta, Georgia area is seeking an Technology and Computer Science Teacher. Applicants must have at least 3 years of experience with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or similar field. Applicants must also have a valid teaching credential, a graduate degree in education, and/or prior teaching experience.

 

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teaches technology exploratory courses with an emphasis on coding and robotics to upper elementary and middle school students with knowledge in drag and drop programming and text-based programming languages. Ability to facilitate students’ learning of HTML, CSS, Arduino electronics, drone technology, circuitry, 3D modeling, and 3D printing.
  • Prioritizes hands-on student learning.
  • Assists with daily functions of the school library media center/technology labs and teacher collaboration.
  • Designs and facilitates robotics club and esports team.
  • Helps to develop and implement programs and services necessary to afford students and staff the maximum use of all available resources.
  • Proactively plans and facilitates technology and innovation programs for students, faculty, and parents.
  • Participates in all general faculty responsibilities as designated by their Supervisor and the Principal.
  • Helps to establish library and technology policy and procedures consistent with the goals and philosophy of the school.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leverages the use of social media to connect with other educators and professionals to create meaningful learning opportunities for the community.
  • Helps maintain school libraries, as part of the media and technology team.
  • Maintains thorough and detailed records of student progress and achievement.
  • Presents a positive role model for students that supports the mission of the school and demonstrates behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.
  • Collaborates with school staff in planning and implementing instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to school requirements.
  • Assumes responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned and may sponsor outside activities approved by the school.
  • Attends, participates, and facilitates staff professional development programs, faculty events and meetings, and serves on staff committees as required (i.e. professional learning days).
  • Maintains working liaisons with other technology educators in the community and to that end, attends regular meetings associated with specific networking groups, such as AATE and other g
  • Designs and implements ongoing professional development for teaching staff centered around technology integration.
  • Promotes the resources and programs of the library media center both in the school and the community to encourage a reading culture.
  • Uses positive communication and organizational skills and responds to emails promptly.

 

  • QUALIFICATIONS & SCREENING REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a similar field; Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s Degree preferred
  • Must have a valid teaching credential, a graduate degree in education, and/or prior teaching experience
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Criminal background check
