Music Teacher, grades K-5 (part-time)

San Diego Jewish Academy seeks a dynamic and passionate Music Teacher to work  with students in grades K-5 on a part-time basis (3 days/week). The The ideal candidate will inspire a love of music in students, foster creativity, and help students build musical skills through engaging lessons and performances.  While knowledge of Jewish music and Hebrew is preferred, it is not required.

You will be kept busy with:
  • Planning and delivering developmentally appropriate music lessons for grades K-5 that promote musical skills, creativity, and appreciation for music.
  • Organizing lessons that incorporate a variety of musical styles, instruments, and activities.
  • Preparing students for school performances, ceremonies, and community events.
  • Managing and caring for school-owned instruments and equipment.
  • Collaborating with fellow teachers to integrate music into interdisciplinary projects and special programs.
  • Participating in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-wide events as needed.
  • Communicating clearly and effectively with students, families and colleagues.
You’re good at:
  • Creating an engaging, motivating atmosphere that encourages students to try new things, builds confidence, and fosters a love for music.
  • Differentiating instruction to meet the varying skill levels and developmental needs of all students.
  • Managing classroom dynamics effectively, ensuring an inclusive and supportive environment that is safe and respectful.
  • Building positive rapport with students, fostering an environment where they feel safe to explore, take risks, and grow.
You bring this to the table:
  • A high level of initiative and the ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Music Education or a related field. (required)
  • Teaching credential or equivalent classroom teaching experience. (preferred)
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or the willingness to obtain certification within 60 days of employment).
Salary Range & Benefits Package:

The anticipated salary range for this position is $54,269 - $69,577 (at 100% FTE; compensation will be pro-rated based on part-time status). The offer to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to: the type and years of experience; training; practical knowledge; and education.
