Bet Am Shalom, a Reconstructionist congregation in White Plains, NY seeks an enthusiastic, creative and experienced communicaitons and marketing professional to join our dynamic clergy and staff team. 

Bet Am Shalom is a vibrant, egalitarian Reconstructionist congregation of families, individuals and children (400 households) who share a deep respect for tradition and believe in a thoughtful, progressive approach to Judaism. The creative spirit of our members fuels our community as together we pray, study Torah, share lifecycle events, support each other, educate our children and commit to repairing the world (tikkun olam). Bet Am Shalom includes families from all over Westchester County, NY and beyond, who are interested in finding an open, warm, and inclusive community that embraces progressive thinking and traditional Jewish practice. 

We are looking for a Marketing and Communications Associate to help Bet Am Shalom take our marketing and communications to the next level. The position will report to the Executive Director, and will work closely with the Director of Education and Family Engagement and lay leadership to streamline communications with our current membership and to increase Bet Am Shalom's brand awareness in the Westchester Jewish community via our website, social media, and other platforms. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate closely with staff, clergy and lay leadership 
  • Increase Bet Am Shalom's online and offline presence in the greater Westchester Jewish Community 
  • Design and coordinate internal and external communications, including weekly and quarterly newsletters, email marketing, social media, and print media. 
  • Assist with management of the synagogue website
  • Evaluate success of marketing campaigns
  • Photograph congregational programs and events
  • Edit digital content including photos, videos, and other promotional materials 
  • Maintain and utilize digital image/photo archive

Qualifications and Skills: 

  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Highly proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and other industry standard design and editing software, including Apple and Microsoft creative tools
  • Experience with HTML, XHTML, WordPress and CSS
  • Proven track record of increasing social media engagement across platforms
  • Creative, collaborative partner
  • Highly organized, attentive to detail 
  • Background or interest in Jewish community life
