Description of the Position: 

We are seeking a dynamic, flexible, and collaborative Hebrew Teacher for Elementary and Middle School students. The successful candidate should have the ability to create and facilitate a vibrant and respectful Hebrew learning environment, guided by effective classroom management strategies that reflect the school’s values and philosophical approach. The teacher should value ongoing professional growth and a highly collaborative working environment. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Present Hebrew lessons for Elementary and Middle School classes that follow the established curriculum using the Proficiency Approach structure, and develop engaging Hebrew lessons once familiar with the Proficiency Approach 
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the range of learners 
  • Assess and evaluate students’ Hebrew progress 
  • Collaborate with Elementary and Middle School Team members during weekly meetings 
  • Maintain ongoing communication with families through weekly newsletters to share information about classroom learning, student related emails or meetings, and Parent-Teacher Conferences 
  • Share student progress through written report cards and progress reports 
  • Apply developmentally appropriate approaches for classroom management to create a respectful, engaging and vibrant classroom learning community 
  • Engage in professional development with faculty and staff and actively seek professional learning and current trends in education 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Ability to convey an appreciation of Israel, the Jewish holidays, and values 
  • Strong organization and time management; flexibility and open-mindedness 
  • Familiarity with the developmental characteristics of Elementary and Middle School students 

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Native Hebrew speaker 
  • Bachelor's Degree or Teaching certification 
  • Teaching experience in the United States or Israel 
  • Flexibility and innovation to differentiate instruction to meet a range of learners 
  • Open mindset to learn and teach following the Proficiency Approach 
  • Ability to develop new materials and integrate technology into classroom learning 
  • Strong classroom management skills and strategies
