Jewish Education Coordinator

Hillel Guelph - Guelph, Ontario, Canada

About Hillel Ontario

Hillel Ontario is the largest Hillel organization affiliated with Hillel International, supporting over 14,000 Jewish students across nine Universities in Ontario.  Hillel engages with, empowers, and inspires the leadership of more Jewish university and college students than all other endeavours combined.  By promoting Jewish identity through life-changing trips and campus initiatives, cultivating student leadership, and embracing religious and political diversity in an inclusive environment, students learn to make meaningful impact on the future of the Jewish people and the world while they grow intellectually, socially, and spiritually.  In the end, our mission is to enrich the lives of Ontario Jewish students so that they may enrich the Jewish community, Israel, and the world.

The Jewish Education Coordinator, reporting to the Campus Director, will enrich the lives of students and shape the future of Jewish life on campus. As an authentic Jewish role model, you will provide leadership for the Hillel community through grassroots community organizing and community engagement. Your responsibilities will include developing and maintaining relationships with less engaged students, increasing the level of involvement and commitment of students in all aspects of Jewish life on campus, and infusing programs with Jewish content. You will be a self-starter and capable multi-tasker who will use these skills to engage students and drive Hillel’s mission, values and goals.

Key Responsibilities

    • Identify needs of the Jewish communities on campus that are underserved and develop strategies for meeting these needs with proven community organizing and outreach methods.
    • Act as a community organizer, working with a vision and thinking strategically about how to engage students in activities that revolve around Jewish enrichment, including campus networks that may not naturally be gravitating towards Jewish identity building.
    • Working with the marketing and communications team, utilize social media in creative ways to engage students.
  • Leadership and Educational Vision
    • Empower students to take ownership over their Jewish communities, cultivating dynamic leaders.
    • Work as a member of Hillel Ontario’s Education Team to support and empower campus program professionals to play an active role in Jewish learning on their campuses and provide local campus program professionals support in pursuing their own Jewish journeys.
    • Represent and speak for the Hillel as a campus chaplain; Engage with on-campus partners to enhance campus culture and keep the Jewish community integrated with the larger campus community.
  • Administration, Supervision and Management
    • Supervise any cohort of student interns who are working on Jewish enrichment-related internships.
