Description

Temple Israel of Alameda is a Reform congregation with a diverse membership in the Bay Area. We are seeking clergy to lead occasional services while we thoughtfully conduct a search for our next permanent rabbi.

Our congregation values inclusive, participatory worship that honors our traditions while embracing creativity and modern spirituality.  Originally a Conservative synagogue that transition to Reform in 1985, we honor traditions of both, with members from a wide range of Jewish backgrounds and levels of observance.

We are looking for a warm, engaging leader who can:

  • Lead inspiring Friday night and/or Saturday morning services
  • Offer thoughtful Divrei Torah and create meaningful connections with congregants
  • Incorporate music into services (through song, guitar, piano, or other instruments) to enhance the joy and spirit of shabbat
  • Foster an environment of inclusion and belonging, ensuring that all individuals and famiies feel welcome and valued, regardless of background
  • Occasionally assist with life-cycle events (if available)

This is a part-time or as-needed position, ideal for someone who enjoys connecting with a small, vibrant community.  We are also open to student clergy in need of internship opportunities.

If you are a rabbi, cantor, or senior rabbinical/cantorial student interested in learning more, please contact [email protected]
