General Overview

Beth Israel Congregation seeks a charismatic, creative, and dedicated person to design and implement programming that connects current and potential members to Beth Israel, to the community, and to one another. We seek an individual who loves working with people of all ages, from all demographics, and from all walks of life. This person will get to know our members through participation in services and community events, and via small group and one-on-one meetings. In collaboration with the rabbi, staff, and lay leadership, the director of engagement and programming will develop programs and activities that offer opportunities to learn, to play, and to interact, and will actively work to create a culture of inclusivity in the congregation. We value passion, imagination, and initiative about Judaism.

As a mid-sized egalitarian Conservative synagogue, Beth Israel affirms inclusion and engagement in Judaism through active participation in meaningful worship, the study of Torah, and tikkun olam in our community. Now in its 106th year, Beth Israel's mission is to inspire a love of Jewish learning, values, and community through engaging formal and informal education and programs across the life span.

The director of engagement and programming reports to the executive director of the congregation, collaborates with other members of the staff (including the rabbi), works with the board's vice president for engagement and programs, and attends all engagement committee meetings.
