Hillel Preschool is seeking a warm, organized, experienced leader with excellent interpersonal skills to oversee, coordinate and grow our Jewish early childhood program. This is a full-time position, and will be a great fit for someone who welcomes collaboration with the teaching staff, enjoys interacting with children and parents, and is passionate about providing a welcoming and inclusive Jewish community for our families.

Qualifications:

  • B.A./B.S. in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or other related degree
  • Qualify as a Level III Early Childhood Administrator, or able to obtain such certification within 4 months
  • 2-5 years experience working in the field of early childhood education
  • 2-3 years of experience with organizational administration
  • First Aid and CPR Certified - or ability to become certified quickly
  • Reference checks are conducted prior to interviews
  • Early Childhood Education Background Check prior to offer

Responsibilities

Operations, Accreditations, Evaluation and Reporting

  • Maintain compliance with accreditations and licensing regulations, including health and safety practices
  • File management
  • Facilitate or otherwise organize safety inspections
  • Maintain Brightwheel, Shutterfly and Squarespace. Other technology adoption and orientation may be required as needed.
  • Implement school documents, policies and budget, as set by the Board of Directors.
  • Update pricing information, registration forms, enrollment forms, calendars, pictures and all information pertaining to the website.
  • Implement developmentally-appropriate, play-based curriculum and stay abreast of best practices.
  • Promote communication with the community by updating weekly e-newsletter and social media accounts. 

Recruiting, Staffing and People / Event Management

  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise and review staff
  • Manage Staff
  • Recruit and retain students / families
  • Support students’ needs and communicate with families appropriately
  • Organize school social events, and partner with volunteers on fundraising events

Board Relations

  • Work alongside and collaborate with the Board of Directors officers as needed for policy, budget, handbooks, hiring, etc.
  • Attend Quarterly Board meetings; present school updates
  • Help recruit new Board members, as needed
  • Communicate clearly, effectively and in a timely manner with the Board when support is need
  • Contribute to Board requested activities in a timely manner, effectively communicating requests for timeline adjustments and other needs to work collaboratively with the Board officers 

Finance and Donor Stewardship

  • Work with the bookkeeper on necessary fiscal management
  • Donor stewardship
  • Fundraiser mailings an/or other fund development support as needed
  • Payroll
  • Tuition invoicing
  • Maintain and purchase restock of inventory and supply

Important Information

Schedule: This position’s typical work schedule is M-F from 8:30am-5:30pm, with an hour for lunch. Occasional evening and weekend hours to attend school events and quarterly Board meetings.

This role is paid 12 months of the year and includes the following active instructional time:

10 months of school; and 6 weeks of summer camp. 

Equipment and Work Setting: This role is primarily centered in an office setting, with support in the classroom as needed. All office technology is provided.

Physical Demands: Some lifting of up to 40lbs is required, as well as regular stooping or bending to meet students at eye-level. Should be able to reasonably stand or sit to interact with children.

Environmental Conditions and Exposure: This role is typically indoors, with some outdoor activity for events, carpool, some playground or other grounds maintenance support.
