Beth El Temple Center is seeking a School Administrator to support our vibrant and dynamic Jewish Religious School community. This role is primarily responsible for assisting the smooth and efficient administrative function of the Religious School, working closely with the Director of Education for this purpose.  The individual in this position provides day-to-day support to the Religious School, supports the congregation and temple staff as needed through collaboration with the Temple Administrator, and serves as a key point person in the Beth El Temple Center office. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position.

It is important for the School Administrator to reflect the Jewish value of Kavod (respect for all) in both disposition and work ethic, support a well-run and organized institution, and to welcome all members and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.

Specific responsibilities include the following:

Religious School (75% of time)

  • Ensure smooth operations of the Religious School by preparing materials, managing supplies and providing general logistical support
  • Support the Director of Education and the school staff in planning events and projects 
  • Track school registrations and facilitate invoicing communications for tuition
  • Coordinate fiscal activities with Temple bookkeeper

Operations (15% of time)

  • Support effective office administration through such tasks as answering calls, greeting scheduled visitors, distributing mail, filing paperwork, and ordering supplies
  • Provide support to the Rabbi, Associate Rabbi, Cantor, and Temple Administrator such as material preparation, drafting correspondence, and general administrative tasks
  • Effectively communicate building needs to security and facilities stakeholders

Congregational (10% of time)

  • Represent the Temple through positive, welcoming interactions with members, prospective members, and visitors as the first point of contact in the main office
  • Write and distribute selected congregational communications
  • Assist with Temple event preparation as needed

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience working in an administrative capacity, preferably in a religious or similar nonprofit environment
  • Advanced facility with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and/or Google Suite applications
  • US Work authorization
  • Willingness to undergo federal background check, per applicable laws/regulations
  • Knowledge of Jewish lifecycle events and holidays is a plus; enthusiastic willingness to learn is required

Schedule:

  • Sunday: 7:30 - 2:00
  • Monday: 9:00 - 5:00
  • Tuesday: 9:00 - 5:00
  • Wednesday: 9:00 - 6:30
  • Thursday: 12:00- 8:30
  • Friday, Saturday: off

(Summer schedule is Mon - Thu 9 - 5, Fri 9 - 2; flexibility/work from home possibility in academic year schedule may be considered)

Salary Range:

$60,000 - $65,000 per year, full benefit eligibility
