ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Beth Israel Synagogue, a dynamic Orthodox congregation in Omaha, Nebraska, is seeking a creative, passionate, and highly organized Director of Programming & Outreach to join our team. This individual will be responsible for developing and managing engaging programming for all ages and helping strengthen connections both within the synagogue and with the greater Jewish community.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone eager to make a meaningful impact in a warm, welcoming environment. Beth Israel is a proud member of the Orthodox Union and serves as the leading Orthodox presence in Omaha, offering daily minyanim, a wide range of classes and programs, and strong community leadership.

ABOUT BETH ISRAEL AND THE OMAHA JEWISH COMMUNITY
Beth Israel Synagogue serves approximately 135 member households, representing nearly 400 individuals. In addition to providing daily minyanim and full Shabbat and holiday services, Beth Israel plays a vital leadership role in Omaha’s Orthodox infrastructure—including oversight of the community mikvah, eruv, and three Jewish cemeteries.
The broader Omaha Jewish community numbers over 7,000 and is one of the most historic and well-established in the Midwest, with roots dating back to the 1850s. Community resources include:
  •  A state-of-the-art Jewish Community Center, home to the highly regarded Pennie Z. Davis Early Learning Center (Jewish daycare and preschool).
  • Friedel Jewish Academy (K–8), offering a dual-track curriculum that emphasizes both limudei kodesh and limudei chol, and teaches Ivrit b’Ivrit with native Hebrew-speaking instructors
  • Rose Blumkin Jewish Home, a top-rated Jewish senior care facility
  • Kosher food options, including the Bagel Bin—a kosher bakery featuring bagels, challah, soups, salads, desserts, and more—and kosher items available at several local grocery stores.
  • KC Kosher Co-Op bulk orders, delivered three times a year, offering a broader selection of kosher food items.
Omaha is affordable, family-friendly, and rich in culture—with nationally acclaimed attractions, a vibrant arts scene, and abundant recreational opportunities. The Omaha metropolitan area has a population of over 1 million, and its cost of living is 8–10% lower than the national average. Famous for “Nebraska Nice,” Omaha’s median home price is $285,000 (according to Redfin). Nebraska consistently ranks among the states with the lowest unemployment rates. Several Fortune 500 companies call Omaha home, and access to quality health care is considered #1 in the country. Higher education options include the University of Nebraska Medical Center, the University of Nebraska Omaha, and Creighton University. For entertainment, Omaha offers extensive parks, art centers, museums, galleries, and a thriving music scene featuring both underground and nationally known artists performing in a variety of venues. Sports enthusiasts can enjoy events such as the College World Series and the U.S. Olympic Swim Trials, both hosted in Omaha.

IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate is warm, personable, and highly organized, with a deep commitment to Torah and mitzvot. They thrive in both informal and structured settings, enjoy connecting with individuals and families from diverse backgrounds, and bring creativity, energy, and passion to outreach, education, and community engagement.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree, semicha, or other equivalent post-high school education
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
• Basic proficiency with computers and common office software
