Description

Our client, an Independent NYC Prep School, seeks an Associate Head of School.

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Contribute as a member of the school’s senior leadership team, championing excellence in all endeavors and functions, creating and executing a strategic vision, and supporting the very best outcomes for the school community.
  • Engage in all school activities such as faculty meetings, parent-teacher conferences, admissions and school events.
  • Work with leadership to ensure the school's culture and messaging are consistent and effectively communicated to parents and faculty; maintaining brand integrity.

Program Management & Administration

  • Manage, supervise, and evaluate faculty in all subject areas through classroom observations, group and one-on-one meetings, formal and informal evaluations
  • Execute professional development programs, focusing on pedagogical skills, classroom management, standardized assessments, and literacy for all faculty
  • Oversee student progress, PT conferences, standardized tests, state testing requirements, and report cards
  • Develop and implement an efficient school schedule
  • Support the Principal in student disciplinary matters, including overseeing discipline documentation, procedures, and follow-up
  • Create a respectful, disciplined and structured school culture based on order and character formation
  • Oversee after school and summer programs in keeping with the school’s philosophy and brand as a means of expanding the student experience, marketing the school, and potentially increasing revenue.
  • Implement faculty recruiting programs
  • Oversee College Counseling/Admissions
  • Evaluate and evolve the high school curriculum to ensure that course offerings, assessment methods, transcript requirements, and extracurricular academic programs align with national standards, positioning students to be competitive applicants for selective colleges and universities across the country and world.
  • Collaborate with faculty and external experts to introduce innovative courses, update assessment strategies, and expand academic enrichment opportunities that further enhance student learning and achievement.

Operations

  • Oversee all aspects of operations
  • Develop, maintain and enforce crucial operational systems, policies, and procedures that serve the overall functioning of the school
  • Strategic planning, team building, financial management, crisis management
  • Oversee all aspects of Human Resources related functions
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and institutional reporting requirements
  • Oversee budget and work with accounting dept

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years in an educational leadership position
  • Demonstrated success at a private or public Middle School or High School
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Experience with DOE compliance requirements
  • Experience working with finance/budgeting
  • Excellent faculty management skills
  • Minimum BA/BS
Salary150,000.00 - 200,000.00 Annual
