Role Overview
Make your mark on Jewish student life by joining Hillel at Arizona State University as the Community Engagement Manager. With approximately 3,500 Jewish students at Arizona State across four campuses, Hillel at ASU is looking for a highly motivated, strategic, and detail oriented individual who can take our engagement work to the next level.
As the Community Engagement Manager, you will be responsible for strategizing and executing our largest programmatic initiatives and expanding our reach by identifying new target populations and launching new affinity groups. You will do this by managing and analyzing our robust data system. You will also collaborate alongside our Community Engagement Specialists and student leaders, helping guide them through engagement and programmatic decisions.

What You’ll Do
Drive Our Student Engagement Strategy
- Curate the student engagement strategy for all “breadth moments” (largest programmatic and engagement initiatives)
- Craft, implement, and evaluate Hillel at ASU’s strategy for connecting with and impacting the full arc of student participation from welcome week to graduation, and all Jewish and campus moments in between. This will be done in collaboration with the Assistant Director.
- Advise student event committees to maintain student input and involvement in all breadth moments.
Build Our Affinity Groups & Partnerships
- Advise the student outreach committee to expand Hillel’s network and create peer to peer engagement opportunities across ASU.
- Explore new avenues for student engagement by building out our affinity groups initiative
- Examples include: engineering, business, journalism to name a few.
- Sit as the liaison to ASU engagement departments meeting with advisors, residential hall directors, etc. to identify new ways for Hillel to integrate into and be value add to the ASU ecosystem.
Utilize Data for Success
- Oversee and manage our CRM system by ensuring all data is inputted in a timely manner and conducting regular cleaning of our database.
- Pull reports to determine under engaged populations/interest groups and curate relevant experiences for each.
- In collaboration with the Assistant Director, organize and conduct monthly data report meetings to review current metrics and strategize for upcoming goals.
Team & Overall Engagement Responsibilities
- Hold at least 5 coffee dates a week to develop 1/1 relationships, identify potential affinity groups, and gain a deeper understanding of our various target audiences.
- Hold an estimated 150 unique relationships.
- Staff Shabbat and holiday programming, ensuring each and every student feels warmly welcomed into Hillel’s “doors.”
- Staff “The First Six,” our welcome week(s) initiative, and each semester’s “Signature Social.”
- Support immersive experiences by recruiting for Birthright Israel, Jewish Learning Fellowships, and social cohort experiences.
- Participate in ongoing Jewish learning and professional development.

- Fluency with social media and design tools (Canva, LinkTree, Instagram, Facebook etc)
- You are comfortable working a flexible schedule that may vary day to day based on students’ needs and Hillel programs
What You’ll Bring to the Job
- A Bachelor’s degree and 2-3 years of professional work experience. Prior Hillel experience is highly encouraged.
- Strategic thinking and an interest in using data to work more effectively.
- A strong program planning background and the ability to see an idea from ideation, through design phase, to execution.
- A passion for working with emerging adults and investing in their growth as Jewish leaders.
- Excitement about the limitless possibility of engaging every Jewish student
- Strong entrepreneurial spirit. Things may not always go according to plan and you must be willing to take risks and by learning from and discussing your wins as well as your losses.
- Ability to collaborate across teams both inside and outside of Hillel.
What You’ll Receive
- Flexible work hours.
- Competitive salary in the non-profit marketplace. The salary range for this role is $53,000-$58,000.
