About the SAM School: 

SAM is a Jewish early childhood and elementary school on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Our instructional program embraces the traditions of Sephardic heritage and educates the whole child as a universal learner. We promote high achievement through diverse learning methodologies that engage the learner’s sense of discovery and wonder and uphold the noble principles of Torah observance.

 

Part-time Elementary School Hebrew and Judaic Studies teacher 

  • Lead daily classroom tefilah
  • Provide learning activities and experiences to build Hebrew vocabulary
  • Teach Hebrew reading and writing 
  • Teach children foundational skills for Chumash study and engage them in the learning of Bereshit and Shemot
  • Approach teaching children in a loving, nurturing and creative manner
  • Collaborate with other teachers and administrators

 

 Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children in first and/or second grade
  • Fluent Hebrew speaker 
  • Knowledgeable about Torah and Jewish observances and traditions
  • Priority for candidates who hold a degree in education and/or have experience classroom teaching
