Shabbat & Holiday Educator

 

Temple Aliyah, a Conservative egalitarian congregation in Needham, MA, is seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic and outgoing individual to serve as Shabbat & Holiday Educator. The Shabbat & Holiday Educator will be responsible for creating and leading Shabbat services and other Jewish programming for families with children ages 0-5, and separately in grades K-5. Responsibilities include monthly Shabbat programs for each age group, with a combination of Friday evenings and Saturday mornings, and occasional programming for other holidays. They will collaborate with the Cantor, the Director of Young Family Engagement, the Director of Congregational Learning and lay leadership to create and execute engaging, interactive age-appropriate programs infused with Jewish learning, ritual, spirituality and home life.

 

The ideal candidate for this position would have a demonstrated knowledge of Judaism and experience leading programs for young children. The Shabbat Educator must be professional and proactive in leading the planning and execution of family programming focused on young and school-aged children. They must have excellent communication skills, including experience with outreach and marketing and a familiarity with social media. The Shabbat Educator would be a positive role model for our youngest members and have the ability to work well with constituents of all ages, including kids, teens, parents, lay leadership, clergy, education staff and other professional staff members. 

 

This position will take approximately 2-5 hours/week, with a stipend for the year of $5,000. This position can be combined with other open positions related to programming or education at Temple Aliyah; please inquire with other interests to expand the role. Opportunity to add responsibilities for leading High Holiday programming for families for an additional stipend.
