North Suburban Synagogue Beth El is a warm and energetic community with over 1000 members/families and a full schedule of worship, programming and education. Our HAZAK Caring Committee provides friendship and support to over 300 members aged 80 plus.

This is a part time position (4 - 6 hours per week) which will support the HAZAK Senior Life Chairpersons, the HAZAK Committee and the HAZAK Caring Community Volunteers. The position is a work from home position but will need to work in the synagogue at times to coordinate and attend events and meetings.

The ideal candidate will be skilled in planning and organizing. The ability to communicate well both in person and via email, text and video calls with a variety of people is required. The ability to produce and use Excel spreadsheets and Google Docs is necessary.

The individual for this position should possess the ability to establish trust with others, be empathetic and caring.

The HAZAK Caring Community Staff Coordinator will perform the following duties:

?  Assist with writing articles for the quarterly newsletters and short promotional pieces for the weekly email newsletter.

?  Keep track in Excel of which members would like to receive meals and which ones have received meals.

?  Conduct research into meal availability with kosher caterers and provide information to the Committee Chair

?  Place orders for meals and assist with coordination of volunteers to deliver them.

?  Mail monthly gift cards to a specific short list of individuals.

?  Coordinate room set-up with building staff for HAZAK programs.

?  Brainstorm ideas for HAZAK Senior Life programs and secure speakers, or activity leaders.

?  Type or write thank you cards to donors and notecards to be attached to meals and holiday bags.

?  Attend HAZAK Senior Life evening meetings approximately every 6 weeks via zoom or in person.

?  Report to the HAZAK Chair-persons regularly keeping them aware of all that is being done or needs to be done. Meet with them periodically for planning. 

Requirements:

?  Some experience with mature adults and/or non-profit work or volunteerism 

?  Own a computer that can be used for work Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

?  The ability to write clear and concise articles and email 

?  Knowledge of Microsoft products, Excel, Google Documents 

?  Desktop publishing experience is not required but a plus 

?  This individual must demonstrate excellent oral communication skills, the ability to listen effectively and maintain confidentiality. 

?  This person must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team. 

?  Ability to stand and walk during the course of a normal business day.

?  Ability to present a professional appearance and demeanor. 

?  Ability to work evenings or weekends as required. 

?  Ability to perform duties in a professional office setting. 

Employment Details:

?  Hourly non-exempt pay at $20 per hour

?  Four hours per week guaranteed pay - flexible schedule up to twelve hour 

?  A friendly work environment with friendly Clergy, Staff, and Congregants 

?  As a part time position, there are no paid time off or benefits
