BACKGROUND

Sixpoint is a media and talent organization working to diversify, incubate, and amplify new voices on key political and cultural issues across the full spectrum of traditional and non-traditional media.

Sixpoint works in a zero-branding fashion, diversifying storytelling through entertaining and educational mediums, thereby empowering a plethora of voices to get their messages across to audiences around the world. By building a national infrastructure, we strive to deliver authentic, genuine, and truthful messaging to combat anti-Semitism and other forms of hatred.

 

POSITION

Sixpoint seeks a one-of-a-kind Director of Media and Communications to lead the organization’s strategic communications strategy.

The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, experienced self-starter with a proven track record in media placements and relationship building. This individual is a creative thinker with a deep understanding of media trends and excellent communication skills, able to shape narratives and liase with traditional media outlets to secure placements that will help the national conversation and further expand the reach of Sixpoint’s content. This role will involve managing a team of media professionals, crafting messaging, engaging with media outlets, and shaping public opinion around relevant issues.

We are looking for a fun, creative, affable, out of the box thinker who is a team player and can juggle many concurrent projects simultaneously.

This is a New York based position.  

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Media Relations

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with media outlets and media professionals. 
  • Leverage existing relationships for strategic placement of guests, talents, subject matter experts, and anyone else who can further amplify important messaging.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for media inquiries and opportunities.

 

Developing Communication Strategies

  • Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive communication strategies to promote the organization’s missions, goals, and initiatives and meet annual KPIs.
  • Ensure alignment and organizational objectives and target audiences.

 

Team Management

  • Provide leadership and guidance to the communications team, including setting objectives and managing workflows.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment.

 

Operations

  • Familiarize yourself with the internal database and become proficient to help maintain accurate data and manipulate as needed.
  • Collaborate with other Sixpoint colleagues on strategic planning and operational workflows.
  • Take ownership of designated projects as needed.
  • Be a team player and be prepared to wear many hats.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years of relevant experience
  • Existing network and relationships in the media space
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Past experience in the media space a plus
  • Ability to work independently
  • Adaptive and inventive
  • Able to work with a small team and take accountability
