Sefaria’s API powers nearly 80 independent projects and dozens of Torah-focused websites. Sefaria's team of more than 20 full-time staff is remote, with employees based in several U.S. cities and in Israel.

Position Overview:

Are you well versed in Jewish texts and interested in joining Sefaria’s growing team?

Sefaria is seeking an excellent project manager, writer, and facilitator to be our next Learning & Engagement Associate.

This position will work closely with the Chief Learning Officer to support Sefaria’s diverse audience of learners and connect with other organizations to help them leverage Sefaria's collection of texts and tools. This work will require strong project management skills and the ability to communicate and work seamlessly with internal teams (i.e., product, content, marketing) as well as external partners. As a digital library, familiarity with not only the Jewish library but also digital technology is a must.

This position will create and adapt educational materials to help support and expand Sefaria’s audience. This work involves curating content for source sheets, email, social media, landing pages, and other learning resources. The position will also engage with audiences to assess interest in and need for different types of materials and collect feedback about the library as needed.

Other core responsibilities include leading webinars, helping to develop and manage external relationships with major Jewish institutions, as well as project managing content projects for the library (e.g., new collections of sheets, translation projects, etc.).

The Learning & Engagement Associate will report directly to Sefaria’s Chief Learning Officer.

In this position you will:

  • Collaborate with marketing and development teams to provide content for general communications and campaigns
  • Surface, create, and curate materials in advance of holidays and other occasions that demonstrate to educators, rabbis, and students the opportunities presented by Sefaria’s dynamic sheets and interconnected library
  • Lead webinars, present to groups, and create engagement opportunities to onboard different segments of our audience to Sefaria and its tools and resources
  • Support and collaborate on the development, tracking, and execution of program goals and design
  • Manage short- and long-term collaborations and partnerships with external organizations
  • Help troubleshoot and resolve user issues, sometimes in collaboration with the product team
  • Perform research and provide administrative support as needed for learning department projects and explorations
  • Contribute to grant writing and reporting and other funder communications

Attributes we’re looking for include:

  • Curiosity and love of learning
  • Familiarity with Jewish communal landscape in North America
  • Comfort with public speaking and presentation
  • Excitement to forge partnerships with organizations
  • Applies excellent time- and self-management in all areas of work; comfortable with a remote work environment.
  • Extensive fluency with Jewish texts
  • Basic fluency in reading modern and rabbinic Hebrew

Experience, qualifications, and requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the field of Jewish education or Jewish nonprofit
  • Proficiency with the Jewish canon is a must; proficiency with Sefaria is a plus
  • Comfortable presenting to large audiences
  • Creative and critical thinker; embraces an entrepreneurial spirit by contributing new ideas from concept to implementation
  • Brings tenacity to trouble-shooting and problem-solving
  • Proficiency in working with the technology in an online work environment including GSuite, Slack, Zoom, Trello (training will be provided, as needed)

Compensation and Benefits:

The annual salary range for this position is $60,000 - $65,000

Location:

The Learning & Engagement Associate can be based anywhere in the US. The Chief Learning Officer is based in Chicago, IL with the rest of the team based in Israel. Sefaria has other staff in New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Providence, Chicago, Denver and St. Louis. For this particular position we will not be accepting applications from outside the US.
