Job Type: Full-time 

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Full Charge Bookkeeper to join our team at Temple Judea. As a Full Charge Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for recording transactions and closing our books monthly. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of accrual basis fund accounting. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the financial health and stability of our religious institution. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  1. Create revenue billing and post cash receipts using Shulcloud and QuickBooks; refer AR delinquencies for collections
  2. Enter and pay accounts payable bills using Bill.com and QuickBooks 
  3. Process payroll 
  4. Bank and credit card reconciliations 
  5. Close the books monthly, including maintaining schedules for balance sheet accounts and preparing financial statements 
  6. Analyze budget-to-actual variances with department heads 
  7. Weekly cash flash report (cash balances vs cash requirements) 
  8. Maintain compliance with GAAP and all applicable laws, regulations, and tax reporting requirements
  9. Give department heads annual budget templates and assist them in compiling their budgets; combine all department budgets into the full Temple budget 
  10. Participate in financial audits and assist in the implementation of audit recommendations

Qualifications: 

  1. Proven experience with above responsibilities, preferably in a nonprofit or religious organization
  2. Strong knowledge of accrual basis accounting, fund accounting experience a plus 
  3. Proficiency in QuickBooks) and Excel 
  4. Strong data management skills 
  5. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial reporting
  6. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines effectively
  7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with staff and volunteers
  8. High level of integrity and discretion when handling sensitive financial information
