The Covenant Foundation supports and promotes excellence and innovation in Jewish education across all denominations and diverse settings in North America. Through our awards and grants programs, we honor outstanding Jewish educators and support creative and innovative approaches to Jewish learning.

 We are currently searching for a Program Officer to join our team. This person will contribute to the overall success of the organization and will gain tremendously in return.

Position Overview:

This position is responsible for overseeing (as detailed below) a grants portfolio, outreach and coordination for a variety of programs throughout the year, including consultations, meetings, public programs, webinars, annual awards dinner, and project directors’ meeting. The professional in this role will be present, as requested, for programs and events, and will be involved in supporting the foundation’s social media efforts and other duties as assigned. For this role a MA degree is required.  

 Responsibilities:

Grants Process

  • Provides guidance to prospective grantees
  • Reads and analyzes Letters of Inquiry (LOI) and Full Proposals
  • Presents proposals and reader reviews at staff and selection committee review meetings
  • Organizes and participates in meetings with prospective grantees and stakeholders
  • Responds to grantees’ semi-annual reports
  • Researches, writes, edits, and prepares written materials for the selection committee
  • Ongoing communication and support for grantees
  • Maintains awards records and information in the Foundation’s database

Awards Process

  • Reads and analyzes applications and portfolios
  • Presents applications and reader reviews at staff and selection committee review meetings
  • Researches, writes, edits, and prepares written materials for the selection committee
  • Organizes and participates in meetings with prospective Award recipients and stakeholders
  • Maintains awards records and information in the Foundation’s database
  • Participates in the Pomegranate Prize selection process

 Events

  • Participates in the writing and editing of materials for the Awards Celebration, Pomegranate Prize Program, and Project Directors’ Retreat
  • Participates in the planning, administration, and coordination of events, including through the Foundation’s event management system

 Media Presence

  • Supports the editorial director on the Foundation’s digital journal and other projects
  • Participates in the management of the Foundation’s social media
  • Liaises with video editor, as needed
  • Updates the Foundation’s website, as needed

The ideal candidate for this position is:

  • On a clear professional path in Jewish education or aligned field, Master’s Degree required
  • Excited to be part of fulfilling and meaningful work in the Jewish community
  • Eager to learn about new ideas and trends in Jewish education and aligned fields
  • An extremely strong writer, editor, and verbal communicator
  • Consistently ensures high-quality work through strong organization and attention to detail.
  • A fast learner with new technology, such as databases/CRMs, content management systems, and event management systems. Experience with Cvent and HubSpot a plus.
  • Passionate about work that truly makes an impact
  • Acts with urgency and initiative to identify needs and implement effective solutions
  • Capable of working independently and collaboratively as a member of a small team.

What We Offer:

  • Salary range from $78,000 to $82,000
  • Generous benefits package including health insurance, dental, vision, defined contribution plan and commuter benefits
  • Highly generous vacation and sick days (23 vacation days and 18 paid sick days)
  • Early closures on Fridays and eve of all Jewish holidays
  • Newly renovated offices in Rockefeller Center
  • This position follows a hybrid schedule: in-office on Tuesday and Thursday, with remote work on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Schedule is subject to change
