Temporary Part Time Executive Director of TSSB

Temple Shalom of the South Bay is seeking someone part time to cover for our Executive Director from September 1st-December 1st, 2024 with 16 training hours in August. We are looking for someone who is personable, reliable, organized, and a fast learner. ShulCloud and Constant Contact knowledge is a plus!

TSSB has 94 membership families and 80 kids in Religious School. Our Temple reflects progressive Judaism with same faith and interfaith families. We strive to provide an inclusive and uplifting environment!

Pay is $30/hour.


Hebrew School - 4 hours on Mondays 2:30-6:30pm in person


Check emails and respond to anything urgent.

Direct people inquiring about membership, HHD tickets, payment, Hebrew School, etc in the right direction.


Set up snack in Parker Hall and welcome students in, tell them to go to class at 4pm and clean up snack.


Help wherever is needed in Hebrew School (ex. Make teachers copies, sit with a kid who misses their parent, help a teacher with a craft).

Take photos and videos for social media.

Continue to answer emails if nobody needs assistance.


Clean up Parker Hall to make it the same way you found it and help the Rabbi lock up.


Admin - 3 hours Wednesdays, arrange time with the Rabbi either in person or virtual

- Most emails at this time of year involve payment, membership, and HHD. I will create an FAQ which you can direct them towards if their question falls into one of those categories.

- Input new members into ShulCloud and charge their account possibly prorating folks who join after September. Send new folks their bills.

- Send out pre-made constant contacts, possible adding any last-minute life cycle events.


Shabbats September 13th Beach Shabbat and November 8th Gratitude Shabbat, 6.5 hours each.

- Purchase food for Oneg and transport to either the beach or TSSB campus.

- Work with facilities from St. Cross to arrange setup.

- Set up sound system and food.

- Meet caterer (for November, no catering in September just an Oneg) and put out food after the service.

- Work with cleaners to clean up (they work for the church and know exactly what to do)!


HHD – October 2nd, October 3rd, October 11th, October 12th, approx. 8-11 hours each (except 10/12 which will be more like 10-14 hours). Hours depend on how quickly breakdown is. Possible set up and opening church for a dress rehearsal and sound check a day or two the week before HHD dates tbd.

- Unlock and turn off alarms in the church and Courtyard

- Work with cleaner to set up the church and put all the prayer books out, set up sign in table, set up backdrop, set up stage.

- Work with sound person to set up sound (will connect you).

- Work with volunteers to check people in and welcome members old and new and non-members.

- Use ShulCloud to download list of people who have paid or set up payment plans for the year and those who have not. Notify those who have not made any initial payment before or at HHD.

- Work with cleaner to cleanup and make church the same way you found it.
