Position Summary: The Assistant Director of Jewish Studies supports all facets of Gratz College’s Jewish Studies programs. Jewish Studies programs includes Jewish Studies (MA and PhD), Jewish Professional Studies, and associated public education. This includes (a) recruitment, admissions, and enrollment processes; (b) academic and curricular administrative support for current students and faculty; and (c) administrative and program coordination with other Gratz staff members and faculty. This position focuses on increasing enrollment and supporting a culture of excellence with the Jewish Studies programs.
Responsibilities:
Admissions and Recruitment
- Manage recruitment and admissions for the Jewish Studies programs
- Collaborate with the Enrollment Management team and attend weekly Office of Enrollment Management (OEM) meetings to create and implement recruitment strategies, as well as to promote the Jewish Studies programs
- Provide guidance and support to prospective students during the application and enrollment process
- Perform other duties related to admissions and recruitment as assigned
Program Support
- Support Director of Jewish Studies and other faculty in student advising and program planning for current students
- Coordinate with Registrar’s Office and Dean’s Office on coursework, registration matters, and academic policies
- In coordination with other staff members, support programs on behalf of Jewish Studies
Administrative
- Oversee invoice and payment paperwork for Jewish Studies programs
- Monitor and analyze enrollment trends to identify areas for growth and improvement
- Assist with building content for newsletters, communications, and flyers related to the Jewish Studies department
- Support assessment data collection pertaining to Jewish Studies learning outcomes
- Utilize Blackbaud to support an efficient admissions process
Teaching and Advisement
- Applicants with an advanced degree in Jewish Studies or a related field will have opportunities for teaching and research advisement
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Jewish Studies or a related field; Doctoral degree preferred. Work experience may be considered in lieu of a graduate degree.
- 3+ years of experience in academic administration, education, and/or admissions work.
- Strong interpersonal and formal writing skills
- Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite and general administrative skills
- Experiences with databases (e.g. Blackbaud or Salesforce) or CRMs preferred
