Who We Are:

Congregation Or VeShalom (OVS), with its rich and diverse 110+ year history, is in the rapidly growing intown Atlanta neighborhood of Brookhaven and serves over 350 member households. Renowned throughout Atlanta for our genuine warmth and welcoming community, OVS embraces the intricacies of modern life, while valuing tradition informed by our Sephardic roots.  We are an uplifting, inclusive, and egalitarian synagogue, accommodating a broad range of customs and observance.

 

OVS is financially stable and debt-free with a generous membership; OVS also boasts a thriving Sisterhood. OVS’s central location in a geographically convenient area brims with young Jewish families and single professionals, many of whom are not yet affiliated.

 

Overview of the Position:

OVS is excited about the ongoing opportunity to build upon connections and engagement of current OVS members (including children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of our founding members) and prospective families of all ages.

 

This individual will work closely with, and report directly to the Executive Director, while also working closely with our Rabbi. The Engagement & Programming Associate will work with the Engagement, Membership, and Programming Teams to achieve the goals set by our Strategic Planning Committee. In addition, the Engagement & Programming Associate will provide logistical support for major events.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Send text messages, make personal phone calls and hold meetings to increase awareness, participation and connection within the OVS community.
  • Serve as the point person creating and implementing a marketing and communications plan to promote and recruit participants for programs, events and services.
  • Responsible for all social media posts including Facebook, Instagram, X, etc.
  • Maintain and update the OVS website, including the creation of new content
  • Creation and distribution of regular e-newsletters to the congregation
  • Oversee event publicity and follow-up, including attendance at all events to take pictures and make live posts.
  • Serve as the key OVS staff person to work with the appropriate Team (s) on major OVS programs and events such as a Purim Celebration and others.
  • Lend support to all membership and fundraising events, including engagement opportunities at Jewish Holidays and other special events.
  • Attend meetings, trainings, conferences, and events as assigned.
  • Maintain the highest quality of courtesy, friendliness and service toward members, visitors and other staff.

  • Understand and support the mission, vision, and values of OVS.
  • Be creative and embrace innovative ideas.
  • Ability to work frequent nights and weekends (office hours flexed).
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds. 
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned.
Salary35,000.00 - 40,000.00 Annual
