Job Title: Bonim Travel Director

Reports To: Director of Camper Care and Satisfaction

Supervises: 2-3 Bonim Counselors

Summary: The Camp Laurelwood Bonim Travel Director will be responsible for the planning and implementation of the Bonim Teen Travel Program, including travel arrangements with a travel agency, programming, staffing, parent communication, staff supervision, and safety.  This program includes a three week trip to Costa Rica and several additional overnight trips. 

Job responsibilities:

  • Supervise the Bonim Program
    • Ensure day-to-day operations run smoothly and campers/staff are safe and well cared for
    • Communicate with parents as necessary throughout the year and during the summer
    • Work with travel companies to plan trip to Costa Rica (first session)
    • Plan local day/overnight trips (second session)
    • Plan programming for all days where campers are on camp (first week and in between travel)
  • Supervise Bonim Counselors
    • Recruit, hire, and train counselors to succeed in leading the trips
    • Lead counselors in conversations and resolution around behavior management issues
    • Formally evaluate each individual using the camp evaluation form
      • Beginning of summer goal setting conversation
      • Midsummer check in
      • End of summer evaluation
  • Integrate Camp Laurelwood’s core Jewish values into all parts of camp and travel (see staff manual for list)
  • Attend weekly all-staff meetings and other meetings with the Camper Care team when on camp
  • Attends all meals when on camp
  • Reachable by walkie talkie from 8am-9:30pm when on camp
  • Participates in Leadership Week, Staff Week, and virtual team meetings before the summer
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor
