Position Overview:

Alexander Muss High School is seeking a Head of School who will serve as the executive officer and will report to the President of the Alexander Muss High School Board and Jewish National Fund USA Chief Administration Officer and Chief Israel Advocacy and Leadership Officer. The Head of School will oversee the school operation including fundraising, working with the educational faculty, administrative personnel, the facilities as well as the students and alumni relations.  The Head of School puts into effect the policies regarding the operation of the school, which have been adopted by the Board.


Essential Job Functions:

The following essential job functions may include but not limited to the following:


  • Communicates vision/mission to school personnel and external constituencies
  • Supervises and leads the Administrative/Leadership team
  • Maintains relationship with day-school partners and communicates to parents
  • Assumes responsibility for the organization and administration of the school and provides leadership in implementing recruitment for educational programs
  • Develops an annual operating budget with assistance from the COO to be approved by the Board and monitors and maintains the corporate business ethics in daily operating procedures
  • Assumes responsibility for examining, delivering, and assessing new, efficient, and effective initiatives and vision for programs/facilities

·        Fundraising

·        Alumni relations

  • Supervises and evaluates educational program with the Dean of General Studies, Dean of Education and Dean of Student Life
  • In concert with Jewish National Fund USA leadership, develops long-range plans and forecasting for continued growth and improvement of the school
  • In collaboration with the COO, reports to the board on the financial condition of the school system and status of programs
  • Works with the school's board of directors to create and implement school policies
  • Sets the annual campus agenda and communicates it
  • Establishes healthy and safe environment on campus (educational, social emotional, physical aspects)
  • Travels quarterly to visit day schools, communal partners and for conferences as well as key donors and board members in support of fundraising efforts
  • Understands the goals of the Jewish National Fund USA and makes sure there is integration between the vision/mission of Jewish National Fund USA and the school
  • Works closely with the CEO of new Beersheva Campus to develop Alexander Muss High School role within the World Zionist village
  • Participates in professional activities to enhance knowledge and skills and shares expertise with colleagues
  • Any other duties that maybe assigned by your supervisor



  • Seasoned leader of integrity who possesses superior analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills; capacity to think strategically and creatively, possesses a broad institutional perspective
  • Experience within senior administrative level leadership position in a school, university or organization
  • Must have the ability to articulate the mission and goals of Jewish National Fund USA and the school
  • Must have demonstrated success in setting and leading fundraising strategy
  • Understanding of the management and responsibility of operating a 24/7 campus which includes semester abroad and summer programs
  • Strong understanding of educational technology, while embracing change and innovation
  • Comfort with using technological tools and integrating them within the day-to-day operations of the institution
