What You’ll Do 

Anshe Emet Synagogue seeks an experienced, creative and dynamic professional to be its Director of Programming and Engagement.  Synagogue programming has become a signature item for Anshe Emet and has historically served an active and diverse community, offering a broad spectrum of well-attended classes, seminars, lectures, blood drives, cooking demonstrations, a biannual adult retreat, book club, Israeli film series, engagement opportunities with Bright Star church, Melton program, and holiday-specific programming.  We believe that exciting and diverse programming fosters engagement and that is a hallmark of Anshe Emet, sometimes hosting as many as 12 programs per month September through June.  We believe that the right candidate will build relationships and engage community members through new and existing programs and will connect congregants to each other and to the clergy.  In addition, this position includes coordinating programs through our many affiliate groups, including Sisterhood, Men’s Club, Young Couples, Na’Aseh (Tikkun Olam), Inclusion, 20s & 30s, the Caring Network and Mitzvah Day among others. The hours for this position are non-traditional including evening and weekend events that will occur.    

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Inspire and execute an ambitious Synagogue programming vision  
  • Ideate, explore, and implement innovative program ideas  
  • Work closely with the Senior Rabbi and lay leadership  
  • Lead the budget process for the Programming & Engagement department  
  • Work closely with Director of Communications to make sure that events are publicized appropriately to ensure excellent attendance 
  • Execute partnerships with outside organizations that further our programmatic goals  
  • Ability to teach Adult Education classes would be a plus  

What You Bring to the Table:  

  • “Can Do!” approach, professionally and personally  
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively 
  • Strong administrative and organizational with careful attention to detail 
  • Capable of managing, organizing and prioritizing multiple projects at the same time 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and strong database knowledge  
  • Ability to interact and connect with congregants, staff and community partners with kindness, compassion and diligence in following through 
  • Ability to balance a heavy workload with a broad range of responsibilities 
  • Strong Jewish knowledge and a passion for building Jewish community 
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant experience, more preferred
