Ahavath Achim seeks a passionate and dedicated Director of Development to join our dynamic team in ensuring the financial future of our community. Working closely with our synagogue leadership and the Executive director, you will play a pivotal role in developing, cultivating, and growing relationships with our donors, clergy, professional staff and lay leadership and ensuring their tangible connection to our mission and vison.
As our Development Director, you will be instrumental in bringing our vision to life: Ahavath Achim cultivates a Jewish community of purposeful belonging. We inspire and support spiritual journeys by deepening relationships with one another. We believe it is at the crossroads of our spiritual paths that life's purpose and God might be found. Ahavath Achim creates a vibrant, inclusive, spiritual community that empowers individuals to connect Jewishly beyond themselves.
Development
• Work with Executive Director and Development Lay-leadership to create a development plan for current and future development prospects
• Oversee all development programs including ? Annual Campaign ? Legacy & Endowment ? Individual Fundraisers
• Staff liaison to all development related committees
• Create solicitation lists and materials for all development campaigns
• Assist with drafting and creating marketing materials for development campaigns
• With committees and lay leadership plan any development events
• Oversee logistics, in conjunction with Director of Outreach and Engagement and Director of Facilities, for all development related events including
• Manage budgets for development campaigns
• Coordinate all acknowledgements for development campaigns including cards, letters, phone calls, lists for websites, etc.
• Create and update acknowledgement lists for Beineinu issues
Stewardship
• Work with ED, Rabbis, and Lay Leaders to create stewardship plans for donors including phone calls, thank you notes, holiday cards, etc.
• Coordinate all stewardship based on plan reminding those who need to do outreach
• With Marketing Director create cards and materials to be used for stewardship • With ED and lay leadership plan stewardship events
• Attend synagogue and community events to build relationships with AA donors and community members
Board Support and Development
• Attend BOD and Officer Mtgs
• Assist President & Officers with reports, agendas, reminders, and other items as needed
• Oversee Annual Meeting and Congregational Meeting coordination including
? Logistics (with Dir of Engagement and Outreach and Facilities Director)
? Notices and Programs (with Marketing Director and Office Manager)
? Proxies and vote tally
• Understand and be knowledgeable on the bylaws to support updates and questions
• Serve as staff liaison to Nominating Committee
? Work with Immediate Past President to build committee, set meeting dates, create lists of potential board members, take notes, and other duties as needed
• Serve as staff liaison to Arnovitz Leadership Institute
? Work with chairs to build program, find session facilitators, handle logistics (handouts, meeting invites, tech needs, food, etc), attend meetings, and other duties as needed
Engagement & Committee Support
• Maintain committee support, outside of committees listed above, as needed
Essential Qualifications
General Skills
? Organizational Excellence: Strong organizational and project management skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple programs simultaneously ? Strategic Prioritization: Skilled at prioritizing tasks and balancing multiple schedules effectively
? Communication Mastery: Clear, persuasive, and compassionate communication skills in both written and verbal formats
? Technology Proficiency: Technologically savvy and resourceful with spreadsheets, communication platforms, design tools, and adaptability to learn new applications. Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, Zoom, ShulCloud strongly preferred.
? Relationship Building: Kind and approachable with exceptional interpersonal skills for cultivating relationships with families, coworkers, lay leaders, volunteers and clergy
? Educational Background: Experience in development and fundraising in a not-for-profit organization and a demonstrated ability to work with Lay leadership and committees.
