Congregation B'nai Torah is a vibrant, egalitarian, Conservative congregation in the heart of Sandy Springs, GA with over 900 family units. We pride ourselves on being a warm, welcoming community, and offer a broad range of opportunities for worship, learning, and social activities for all ages. We welcome your application for the BT LAB Director position on our professional team.   

BT LAB is Congregation B’nai Torah’s supplementary educational program for our youth. Our program serves over 120 students. The program meets Sundays between 9a-12p. There is also a remote weekday Hebrew component to our program, as well as occasional Sunday evening sessions with our older students. 

The BT LAB (Religious School) Director Responsibilities: 

  • Recruits, hires, supports, and supervises teachers and instructors. 
    • Leads regular staff meetings.  
    • Manages teacher payroll.  
  • Organizes the BT LAB calendar and weekly class schedules.  
  • Communicates set-up, supplies, and facility usage with B’nai Torah staff 
  • Serves as primary contact for BT LAB parents and families.  
  • Provides ongoing communication between parents, teachers, and students.  
  • Coordinates our teen Madrachim program (recruitment and training) 
  • Coordinates offsite field trips for 7th grade students
  • Manages discipline and inclusion needs of students.  
  • Collaborates with the Rabbi and Director of Life-long Learning to 
    • Implement curricular goals of BT LAB 
    • Develop lesson plans for each grade  
    • Develop and facilitate family programing once a year per grade

  • Possesses a degree in the field of Education / Jewish Education 
  • Is organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated and has robust administrative skills 
  • Has strong leadership abilities 
  • Demonstrates friendliness and personability to families and students 
  • Cares deeply for the educational and religious growth of students 
  • Is passionate about the values and rituals of Judaism  
  • Has excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Feels comfortable with technology and word processing
