About Knollwood Cemetery Corporation

Knollwood Cemetery Corporation is the parent organization of Knollwood Memorial Park (a nonsectarian cemetery in Canton, MA) and Sharon Memorial Park (a Jewish cemetery in Sharon, MA). Together, these sacred spaces form one of the largest and most respected memorial parks in the Northeastern United States.

Rooted in tradition and guided by compassion, we serve thousands of families with dignity and care in their moments of need. As a certified Arboretum, we steward over 300 acres of beautifully maintained land — a place of spiritual reflection, remembrance, and peace.

We are seeking a mission-driven, ethically grounded, and visionary leader to serve as our President & CEO, a role that carries profound responsibility and the opportunity to make lasting impact on families and communities.

About the Role

The President & CEO will be entrusted with guiding our nonprofit organization in both strategic vision and daily operations, working closely with the Board of Directors to ensure we remain faithful to our mission of compassionate service and sacred stewardship.

This role requires a balance of strong executive leadership and genuine spiritual sensitivity — someone who can manage with discipline, lead with heart, and serve with humility.

Key Responsibilities

Mission & Values-Based Leadership

  • Embody and promote the values of dignity, compassion, inclusion, and service to all communities
  • Guide the organization with integrity and vision, honoring both religious and cultural diversity
  • Foster a culture of empathy, respect, and purpose across all teams

Strategic & Operational Oversight

  • Lead a dedicated team in delivering excellence across all functions: operations, family services, grounds, and administration
  • Implement operational best practices to enhance efficiency and sustainability
  • Uphold the highest standards of ethical governance and board collaboration

Community & Faith Engagement

  • Build meaningful relationships with local faith leaders, clergy, and community organizations
  • Support outreach initiatives that promote awareness, education, and inclusivity

Grounds & Legacy Stewardship

  • Oversee the care and preservation of our historic and sacred landscapes
  • Partner with groundskeeping and landscaping staff to protect the natural beauty and serenity of our parks

Financial Management & Planning

  • Ensure financial health through responsible budgeting, pricing strategy, and resource management
  • Provide transparency and strategic insight to the Board of Directors
  • Seek new partnerships and opportunities for philanthropic support or mission-aligned growth and revenue generation

Regulatory & Compliance Oversight

  • Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local laws
  • Stay ahead of evolving regulations related to cemetery management and nonprofit operations

Family & Visitor Experience

  • Ensure every family is served with compassion, sensitivity, and grace
  • Continually improve the services and experiences provided to those in our care

Qualifications

  • Executive leadership experience in nonprofit, religious, human services, or mission-based organizations
  • Proven success in strategic planning, operations, and board collaboration
  • Financial acumen with experience in budgeting and sustainable financial stewardship
  • Deep respect for and understanding of diverse religious and cultural practices — familiarity with Jewish traditions is strongly preferred
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in nonprofit management, business, or theology is a plus
  • Technologically competent, with comfort using Microsoft Office and relevant management systems, including cemetery management systems and financial systems.

What We Offer

  • A meaningful and mission-aligned leadership opportunity
  • A chance to serve a diverse and multi-generational community at moments of deep significance
  • A beautiful, 300-acre natural setting in which to lead and serve
  • A legacy organization with deep roots — and opportunity for thoughtful innovation

Equal Opportunity Statement

Knollwood Cemetery Corporation is committed to building a diverse and inclusive team. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and do not discriminate based on race, religion, gender identity, age, ability, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic protected by law.

Lead with Purpose. Serve with Compassion.
