The Jewish Graduate Student Initiative (JGSI) is the movement for Jewish graduate students and alumni, the only national organization solely dedicated to this demographic. Our mission is to support Jewish life on graduate campuses and to connect Jewish grad students and alumni to their heritage and the greater Jewish community. Our organization currently serves over 7,000 unique participants from 130+ graduate programs across North America with Jewish engagement, programming and content on an annual basis.

 

JGSI seeks a talented and daring nonprofit professional Program & Events Manager to assist with and expand all aspects of our innovative program and event operations. The ideal candidate is a consummate professional and motivated self-starter, capable of overseeing many projects at once and passionate about our mission. Must be detail-oriented and punctual, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be able to multitask with a smile :)

This is a position that offers a casual and flexible work environment, Shabbat/Jewish holidays off!

Responsibilities:

  • Point person for logistics & operations of all organization programs and events, including on-campus events (at over 130 campuses across North America) and national programs including (but not limited to) InterJLSA, JELCON, Partner’s Summit and JEL.Connect
  • Liaise with both students and National Engagement Coordinator for campus requests
  • Keeping track and staying on top of all campus Event Requests & Speaker Requests
  • Setting up event profiles on events calendar and updating website for each event
  • Responsible for pre and post event registration collection
  • Ordering food and supplies for each event
  • Coordinating remote delivery/drop-off/pickup
  • Some basic graphic design for on-campus event flyers
  • Managing Eventbrite for paid events
  • Negotiating catering menus and invoices
  • Paying invoices for events
  • Process reimbursements for students as needed
  • Nametags and other supplies and coordinating delivery with vendors for large-scale events
  • On-site point person in local city at events for coordination needs

Requirements

Be able to legally work in the United States;

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Demonstrated experience with MS Office; Preferred experience with various online applications such as Eventbrite, Dropbox, Google Apps, CRM software, Jotform, Asana, Slack and QuickBooks Online
  • 2+ years’ experience in operations, administration, or event management
