Bridge Family Religion School (BFRS) teachers are at the heart of our vibrant learning community, inspiring students to explore their Jewish identity, connect with our history and traditions, and engage meaningfully with prayer and Hebrew. Through creative, interactive programming, they foster a sense of belonging and memorable moments. Supported by our dedicated Education Team, BFRS teachers collaborate and grow together, creating inclusive and engaging classrooms where our youngest congregants build their understanding of what it means to be a part of our Jewish community.
This position is based on our Seattle campus on Sundays.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
This position is for a staff member for our Tiyulim (Adventures/Travel) program for 7th graders. Tiyulim is a field trip-based program that is designed to create a bridge between TDHS and the larger world, giving our 7th graders a chance to interact with their community from a Jewish lens.
This is an experiential program that meets at the synagogue in the morning and then spends the day on field trips around the community. Attendance at 16 sessions during the year is the requirement for this position.
- Staff our Sunday morning Tiyulim (Adventures/Travel) program for 7th graders
- Support the coordinator, plan activities and community building
- Build a welcoming, inclusive program where students feel connected, encouraged, and excited to participate.
- Responsible for safety of students while traveling.
- Partner with other teachers, staff, and families to create a strong support system for each student’s learning journey.
- Communicate in a timely manner with Education Team members and Tiyulim lead/co-teachers.
- Attend professional development trainings and grade-level meetings. Stay curious and connected by exploring new ideas and bringing a growth mindset.
- Sunday teachers are not required to know Hebrew.
Teachers are paid hourly with separate hours allotted for prep-time. On site hours are from 8:30-2:45pm.

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

- Basic knowledge of Jewish history, experience with Jewish traditions and religious practices.

Physical Requirements
- Standing and Teaching: Ability to stand and teach for extended periods.
- Mobility: Capability to move around and interact with students. Moving throughout a building that is on many levels might be required. Ability to ride in shared transportation/buses required.
- Event Participation: Participation in school events and activities, which may involve physical activity.
- Lifting and Carrying: Occasional lifting and carrying of educational materials and equipment up to 10 pounds.
- Versatility: Ability to work in various settings, including classrooms and communal gathering spaces.
- Manual dexterity: Ability to use a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.
- Visual acuity: Ability to read and interpret documents, emails, and computer screens.
- Hearing ability: Ability to communicate effectively via phone, virtual meetings, and in person.
