Job Description: 

The Music Center Manager at Anshe Emet Synagogue plays a key role in coordinating and supporting a wide range of musical, ritual, educational, and communal programs. This position ensures the smooth execution of the B’nai Mitzvah process, manages music-related initiatives including choirs and bands, and supports clergy and congregational events with logistical and administrative expertise. Serving as a central point of contact across departments, the Music Center Manager handles scheduling, communications, AV needs, and program planning. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic environment, juggling multiple projects while fostering meaningful engagement with families, clergy, and the broader community. 

Responsibilities:  

B’nai Mitzvah 

  • Assist the Ritual Director in meeting with other synagogues in the area 
  • Schedule intake meeting, family meeting, morning minyan participation, Friday night kiddush attendance, and dress rehearsal and photos, and post-B'nai Mitzvah meetings with B’nai Mitzvah Families 
  • Schedule Friday night and Saturday morning shabbat greeters 
  • Organize 4th and 5th grade B’nai Mitzvah family meetings in the fall and spring. 
  • Journey to Mitzvah 
  • Handle administrative tasks for each sessions, such as creating registration forms, creating program materials, running the program PowerPoint, requesting appropriate room set up needs, and corresponding with families 
  • Handle all AV needs including coordinating who will set up microphones, screen, and presentations on J2M mornings 

 

Music Center

  • Create weekly Music Team agenda, run meeting, take notes, and follow up with action items 
  • Create monthly Music center agendas, assist in the production of the Music Center E-Blasts with the Communications Director, and provide edits for the Music Center website 
  • Oversee the Music Team payroll 
  • Code Music Center credit card bills  
  • Assist with AV needs and conversations between the Music Center and IT/AV Team 

  • Schedule the Anshe Emet Band members for Friday night Shabbat service participation and additional musical opportunities
  • Create the yearly Youth Choir calendar and contact list and communicate to families registration and participation information throughout the school year
  • Schedule the musical leaders for Saturday morning Shabbat youth services 

 

Clergy 

  • Maintain cantor outlook calendars 
  • Be available by phone for the cantors for pastoral, clerical, or musical needs 
  • Handle clergy-wide needs that involve larger synagogue events 
  • Submit Friday night Shabbat service setups in calendar 
  • Complete miscellaneous clergy tasks in service to the Senior Cantor and Hazzan Sheini 

 

Events 

  • Assist with Kaplan Concert by coordinating musicians, performers, lyrics, and run of show 
  • Assist in creating programming for events such as special family shabbats and synagogue-wide events  

 

High Holy Days 

  • Work at all HHD services to greet guests, usher to seats, hand out programs, etc. 
  • Schedule HHD professional choir and youth choirs, coordinate their space and AV needs in calendar and with our IT team, correspond with professional choir director and youth choir families about needs and expectations 
  • Create HHD binders for the cantors, gabbaim, and ritual director with all service grids, parashot, announcements, and mishebeirach and yahrtzeit lists 

 

Other 

  • Answer the Anshe Emet main line and assist congregants and community members with their questions and concerns
