Repair is building a national Jewish service movement that mobilizes young adults to serve in their communities, catalyzes service through deep partnerships within Jewish communal organizations, and inspires people to take action through time-bound thematic national service campaigns, digital engagement, and service. Our mission provides volunteers with an increased connection to meaningful service and learning as a Jewish value, builds capacity for nonprofit partners to meet their missions, and deepens connections across lines of difference. 


Position Overview

Repair the World is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to serve as its Senior Director of National Partnerships Strategy in a unique moment of growth and opportunity. In May 2020, Repair created the Jewish Service Alliance (JSA), a group of 40+ organizations committed to elevating Jewish service learning. Repair the World and the Jewish Service Alliance are in a period of exponential growth. The Senior Director of National Partnerships Strategy will play a pivotal role in enhancing and expanding the Jewish Service Alliance by overseeing JSA-wide strategy, including strategic communications with partners, creating new, customized partnerships, managing the national partnerships team, and planning bi-annual Jewish Service Summits. 

Repair is looking for a leader who can shape and oversee our national partnership strategy and approach,  and who has experience building, managing, and growing significant relationships and partnerships. This includes implementing the JSA-wide strategic plan, direct supervision of the national partnerships team, regularly convening JSA partners and affiliates, planning bi-annual Jewish service summits, managing existing partnerships, building new partnerships, program design, and measuring and tracking performance data. 

This position will be on Repair’s national team, will report to the Chief Program Officer, and will ideally be located in one of Repair’s communities (Atlanta, Baltimore, Bay Area, Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, Denver, Los Angeles, Miami, New York City, Pittsburgh). As a key member of the Program Leadership Team, the Senior Director of National Partnerships Strategy will collaborate closely with the national partnerships team, as well as the Senior Director of Jewish Education, the Senior Director of Community Impact, and the Director of Campaigns, and executive leadership to meet the needs of our partners. Additionally, the role holds an executive leadership presence externally, and across the organization internally.  


Position Responsibilities

Partnership Growth and Strategy

  • Lead and expand the Jewish Service Alliance (JSA) and its 45+ partners as the central platform for Jewish communal organizations to engage in and enhance their Jewish service and learning including regular communications and touchpoints, including opportunities to engage in Repair the World virtual and in-person service programs, national service campaigns, and convenings.
  • Design and implement the short- and long-term strategies for Repair’s national partnerships, aligned with Repair’s adaptive strategic plan.
  • Convene and steer the JSA Leadership Group focused on the JSA’s strategic priorities.
  • Create, maintain, and grow strategic partnerships with leading Jewish organizations including the JCC Association, JDC Entwine, Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA), Hillel International, Honeymoon Israel, Moishe House, and OLAM.
  • Partner with the Senior Director of Jewish Education to implement Jewish educational strategy across the JSA.
  • Steward relationships with current JSA affiliates and prospective national partner organizations/JSA members to build new national partnerships, with an eye towards elevating service among Jewish organizations.
  • Support development efforts and lay leader engagement as they relate to national partnerships and Repair’s adaptive strategy.
  • Lead planning for the bi-annual Jewish Service Summit in partnership with team.

Partnership Supervision and Systems 

  • Supervise and lead a cohesive national partnerships team. 
  • Create and strengthen systems to enhance national partnerships work, including relationship building, landscape mapping, program design and oversight, data management, evaluation, and MOU’s. 
  • Provide fiscal oversight and budget management for a $1M+ budget. 
  • Track and report progress and relationships in Salesforce using specific metrics/outputs and analyzing goals on a quarterly basis with the broader team.
  • Work with our outside evaluators to collect and analyze data from partner organizations as well as oversee measurement and evaluation of partnerships; using data to make data-driven decisions as partnerships launch and grow. 

Cross-functional Leadership

  • Serve on Repair’s Program Leadership Team, providing cross-functional leadership to Repair’s program strategies.
  • Support national partnership storytelling and reporting efforts, collaborating with external partners and the national strategy team (marketing & communications, digital, development, and data) to enhance brand awareness and storytelling through collecting stories, reporting to funders, ensuring press coverage of partnerships, etc. 
  • Serve as an enthusiastic and well-informed spokesperson for Repair the World at conferences and events. 


Position Requirements and Skills

  • 10+ years of leadership and supervision experience with strength in managing multiple high-level relationships simultaneously, as well as coaching, motivating, and leading a team through change with a common vision, clarity, and focus.
  • Track record of successful partnership management; an ability to build relationships and seize opportunities, learning, and course-correcting in real-time.
  • Experience with guiding strategy alongside a track record of successful execution including the ability to hold big-picture goals with day-to-day operations, and manage multiple time-sensitive projects simultaneously.
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills; proven ability to connect with executives, non-profit leaders, and young adults.
  • Experience working with the organized Jewish community, bringing existing relationships with Jewish organizations and leaders.
  • Experience in one or more of the following fields: direct service, volunteer management, Jewish service learning, service learning, or national service.
  • Ability to manage budgets of $1M+. 
  • Experience with Salesforce (or similar database) and Google suite. 
  • Passion for Repair the World’s mission and sophisticated awareness of Jewish life and community, poverty, structural racism, power, and privilege.
  • Embrace Repair the World’s organizational values that guide our work with the frame of repairing the world (Tikkun Olam) leading to the pursuit of justice (Tzedek).
  • Ability to travel within the US as needed and when possible to meet with partners.

Compensation at Repair the World is determined based on the salary band for the role and adjusted based on cost of living where the final candidate resides. The ideal candidate will ideally be located in one of Repair’s communities (Atlanta, Baltimore, Bay Area, Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, Denver, Los Angeles, Miami, New York City, Pittsburgh). For candidates with 10+ years of experience, compensation for this role starts between $110,000 - $150,000 depending on the city. If you have additional experience, let’s talk.  

Benefits package includes paid time off for service in addition to vacation and holidays, employer pays 100% for employee medical/dental/vision coverage and 50% for dependents, retirement matching, and professional development funds. In addition, employees that have been with Repair for at least six months are eligible for 16 weeks of paid parental leave.

  • Applicants moved forward will have a first-round screening with a member of Repair’s People & Culture team.
  • Applicants that move forward from a first-round interview will be asked to complete and submit a written assignment & have a second-round interview with the Chief Strategy Officer and a member of the Program Leadership Team. 
  • The final round interview will be with Repair’s President and CEO and another member of Repair’s Executive Team.
  • Two professional references will be requested before the final round of the interview process.
  • Final candidate will do a “meet and greet” with members of Repair’s national partnerships team.
