Senior Philanthropy Officer, PJ Library – Florida and Southern States
Southeastern U.S. (Remote; preferably based in Southeast Florida)
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
PJ Library—a globally recognized signature initiative of the Harold Grinspoon Foundation—is seeking a Senior Philanthropy Officer (SPO) to advance its ambitious major gift fundraising efforts across Florida and the Southern United States. Reporting to the Chief of Philanthropy and serving as a senior member of the national advancement team, the SPO will build and manage a portfolio of high-capacity donors and prospects with the ability to steward and secure gifts of $25,000 and above.
This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled and motivated fundraiser to grow a regional portfolio with independence and creativity, while benefiting from the strategy, resources, and camaraderie of a nationally coordinated development team. The SPO will collaborate across departments, engage with implementing partners in select communities, and serve as a key partner to the President and other senior leaders in cultivating and soliciting major donors.
Key responsibilities include:
Major Gifts Fundraising & Portfolio Management
- Build and manage a portfolio of 100+ major donors and prospects throughout Florida and the Southern U.S., focusing on securing gifts of $25,000 and above.
- Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual, foundation, and corporate donors aligned with PJ Library’s mission and funding priorities.
- Serve as the lead relationship manager and collaborate with senior leadership and lay partners to deepen donor engagement and close major gifts.
Donor Engagement & Stewardship
- Plan and execute strategic donor visits, events, and touchpoints—both in-person and virtual—across the Southeast region.
- Collaborate with program and grants staff to craft compelling proposals, impact reports, and personalized donor communications.
- Ensure timely and thoughtful stewardship for all donors in the portfolio, fostering long-term relationships and increasing philanthropic investment.
- Monitor and report on portfolio progress using Raiser’s Edge NXT and meet annual performance goals for donor engagement and revenue.
Organizational Collaboration & Partner Support
- Serve as an active member of the national advancement team, ensuring alignment between regional work and broader fundraising strategy.
- Coordinate with colleagues across departments to deliver a cohesive donor experience and share insights on donor interests and trends.
- Build and maintain relationships with select PJ Library implementing partners to support collaborative fundraising and joint cultivation efforts.
ABOUT THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE
The SPO will be a confident and mission-aligned frontline fundraiser, bringing strong instincts for donor strategy, relationship-building, and cross-functional collaboration. They will thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and play a central role in growing PJ Library’s philanthropic impact.
The ideal candidate will bring:
- 10+ years of frontline fundraising experience with a strong track record of securing 5-7-figure gifts.
- Proven success managing donor portfolios and leading personalized cultivation and solicitation strategies.
- An ability to align donors with both national and local impact across a complex organization.
- Experience partnering with senior executives and board members on major gift engagement.
- Knowledge of the Jewish philanthropic landscape; familiarity with Southeastern Florida and the Southern U.S. is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in CRM systems; experience with Raiser’s Edge NXT is a plus.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Based in the Southeastern U.S., preferably with experience in Southeastern Florida.
- Willingness to travel frequently within the region and occasionally to Aspen, CO and HGF headquarters in Agawam, MA; availability to attend donor meetings and events during evenings and weekends as needed.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The salary range for this role is $175,000–$190,000, commensurate with experience. The Harold Grinspoon Foundation offers a generous benefits package and a mission-driven, team-oriented culture.
