Hebrew Reading Coaches

Job Summary

The Temple Emanuel Religious School is looking for part-time Hebrew reading coaches to join our staff. Our Hebrew Reading Coaches will work closely with our Religious School teachers to ensure all students are advancing with their Hebrew decoding skills.  The Hebrew Coaches will work with small Hebrew groups, or at times, 1:1 with students in grades 3-6 as they improve their Hebrew decoding skills and fluency.

Hebrew reading coaches will also assist with free time supervision and assist with the organization of learning materials, Hebrew assessments and data collection.  Time for meeting with Religious School teachers, planning, preparation and clean-up is built into the hours.

Candidates should have excellent Hebrew decoding skills, and some familiarity with Hebrew prayers. Candidates should have experience working with school-age children and different types of learners. Game-based learning and teaching Hebrew as a second language experience a plus.

 

Qualifications

  • Ability to teach children how to read Hebrew
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills
  • Ability to develop a good rapport with students of all learning styles and abilities

Education/Experience

  • Synagogue or other Jewish organizational experience a plus
  • Hebrew teaching experience a plus
  • Experience in experiential education/project-based learning

Additional Information

  • This position is in person at Temple Emanuel.
  • The position is 7 hours/week:  9:00-12:30 on Sundays and 2:30-6:00 on Thursdays. (Must be able to work both days for consistency)
