Students Supporting Israel seeks a grant writer responsible for securing annual foundation grants as well as to broaden the scope of our foundational relationships. Reporting to the Executive Director and the President. 


The grant writer will manage proposals and report writing for foundations and major donors. This position is responsible for all grant-related deliverables, from tracking deadlines to final submissions and grant compliance. The grant writer will join a committed national team to support communications and funding requests with philanthropic organizations and individual donors.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Develop individual grant and major donor proposals and reports in accordance with the funder’s guidelines, including responses to Requests for Proposal RFP and letters of intent

• Works closely with the President/Executive in developing and transforming ideas into grant proposals; interacts with stakeholders and partners involved in grant-funded activities

• Conducts ongoing prospect research to discover and vet new grant opportunities

• Seeks out and helps cultivate effective relationships with grantors

• Initiates and maintains communication with funders and keeps detailed records of all interactions

• Writes or amends program descriptions and compiles required data with input from the national team to submit reports about activities to donors

• Develops budgets and justifications for new proposals and renewals of grants

• Manages assembly of all grant collateral materials, agreements, and exhibits; manages internal distribution of grant proposals to appropriate staff for review and/or record-keeping• Manages database updates and grant deliverables reports

• Customizes acknowledgment letters to individual grantors

• Updates the relevant materials for record keeping and continuing use of writing

• Uses sound judgment and discretion when handling private and confidential information

Education and Training:

• Bachelor’s degree

• Minimum of three years experience with grant writing with proven success in grant awards, preferably in the Jewish non-profit world

• Formal training in grant writing preferred

Qualification and Skills:

• Detail-oriented and exceptional communication skills

• Experience using databases

• High-level organizational and project management skills, including juggling multiple deadlines

• Previous experience with nonprofit fundraising

• Excellent writing, editing, and research skills; Excellent computer skills including MS Office; web/internet savvy

• Ability to listen and develop information into grant proposals

• Experience with standard concepts, practices, and procedures for researching and writing grant proposals for foundation funds


Location: Remote, with potential occasional travel time to various locations in the US as needed, where travel options will be discussed on a case-case basis.

Compensation Range / Hours: $65,000 - $75,000 / full-time / based on experience.
