SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Executive Director provides leadership and builds on Tribe 12’s strategic vision and all programs and activities to achieve that vision. The Executive Director facilitates and directs financial management, fundraising, marketing, community relations, program development, strategic planning, and board development.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Community Engagement & Marketing

• Develop and maintain partnerships with stakeholders, grantors, community organizations
• Continually monitor, enhance, and articulate the brand and mission
• Represent Tribe 12 at community and corporate events to strengthen the image and brand
• Develop and maintain relationships with Jewish and secular organizations
• Assess current trends to remain relevant among constituents

Board of Directors & Committees

• Engage the Board and promote involvement through a variety of methods
• Develop agenda, produce budget, provide program reports, coordinate and manage regular schedule of meetings for Board of Directors and committees
• Support and promote development of the Board of Directors and volunteers
• Coordinate and provide staff support for committees

Fundraising

• Develop and implement fundraising plan (with Board, volunteers, and staff)
• Maintain and enhance relationships with current donors
• Engage and develop relationships with prospects, potential and new donors
• Maintain and grow active list of donors and potential donors
• Secure contributions, in-kind donations, and grants.

Staff Development & Supervision

• Develop organizational culture and promote collaboration throughout the organization
• Provide regular supervision and mentoring for professional staff and program contractors
• Ensure staff development through trainings and professional development opportunities
• Identify, recruit, train, and develop a talented team of employees to lead critical functions
• Provide regular feedback and bi-annual reviews of managers and program leaders

Oversee Business Operations

• Manage and ensure accuracy of finances
• Ensure all programming is scheduled and operating efficiently to serve community needs
• Oversee accuracy of communication, including website, print materials, social media
• Ensure employees and business practices comply with regulatory and legal requirements
• Direct organized system of metrics, record keeping, and document protection

Ensure Dynamic, Robust, and Relevant Programming, Activities and Events

• Ensure alignment of programs and activities with mission and vision
• Ensure programming metrics are understood, calculated, and achieved
• Provide input on projects on an ongoing basis


DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

• Team Dynamics Skills – experienced in group work and collaboration, a consensus builder, listener, able to work with disparate groups and forge a common path, excellent communications skills
• Fundraising and Financial Management – proven track record in all aspects of fundraising, specific experience in major gifts fundraising with private donors and companies, experience writing grants and monitoring grant projects. Understanding of financial statements and budgeting
• Project Management – able to see a project through from start to finish, proven leadership and supervisory skills, decisive, able to resolve conflicts, strategic planning, experience in change management, program experience preferred
• Executive Presence – experience at/near top of an organization (preferably nonprofit), experience with boards and volunteers, spokesperson, management experience, mentorship, success expanding a brand and associated marketing
• Jewish Competency/Mission-Focused – understanding of Judaism, cultural norms and values, and the Jewish spectrum (social, religious, secular and cultural), knowledge of the Jewish community, credibility and ability to speak from a level of authenticity.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Tribe 12 provides a flexible and open work environment. Some evenings and weekend hours will be required to meet program needs; employees may adjust their hours accordingly to accommodate these needs. Tribe 12’s office is in downtown Philadelphia; there is flexibility for working off-site.
