Role Overview

Hillel International's Advancement Team is seeking a Director of Philanthropic Experiences, based in New York City. This individual will play a key role in planning major movement-wide events tied to Hillel’s Centennial. Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Philanthropic Partnerships and Experiences, the Director of Philanthropic Experiences will liaise with the Conference and Events and Marketing teams while working in tandem with the Advancement team members to craft and implement creative and unique experiences for current and prospective Hillel supporters. This individual must have prior experience conceptualizing and implementing large-scale events. 

Responsibilities

  • Ideation, conceptualization, brainstorming, and creative vision development for a wide range of projects and experiences, including videos, plenary production and events (events to include but not limited to Hillel International’s Centennial Gala, the Stakeholder Experience track of Hillel’s Global Assembly and Hillel Internationals presence at various Jewish conferences)

  • Provide written and visual depictions of concepts, themes, designs, décor, video and general production concepts

  • Maintain a robust knowledge of industry, trends, and issues so Hillel events remain innovative and on-trend

  • Select and prepare event speakers for Hillel stakeholders

  • Collaborating with internal marketing and conference and events teams as well as external creative resources on creative projects 

  • Creates a seamless, balanced, and enjoyable experience for existing and prospective donors through effective leadership and recognition techniques

  • Function as event planning lead, supported by the Advancement operations team

  • Provide on-site management and support at events

What you do well 

  • Creative, out of the box thinker 

  • Demonstrated ability to plan and organize events, preferably in New York City 

  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within changing priorities with enthusiasm

  • Experience in a deadline-driven environment with multiple priorities and limited turnaround time, especially close to event dates

  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Strong sense of initiative, self-starter 

  • Sound knowledge of the Jewish non-profit sector

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally

What you will bring to the Job 

  • 8-10 years of work experience in non-profit sector or in a marketing or events roles

  • Must be open to occasional travel, weekends and evenings 

  • Great attention to detail 

  • Experience with creative teams 

  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills

  • Ability to interact comfortably and confidently with C-level executives and major stakeholders
