Broward Central Synagogue, we are an inclusive synagogue in Plantation, seeking a highly organized, professional, and proactive Administrative Assistant to help manage the day-to-day operations of our Temple. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment and is eager to contribute to a vibrant Jewish community.

Position Overview

The administrative assistant provides essential administrative, operational, and communications support to ensure the smooth running of our educational programs. This role supports the Director of Lifelong Learning by managing logistics, communications, databases, and day-to-day operations across our schools.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, tech-savvy, and able to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced, community-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

Administrative & Operations

  • Manage staff payroll and related reporting.
  • Track and maintain student attendance and enrollment records.
  • Maintain and update student databases, including contact information, allergies, and medical alerts.
  • Assist with budget reports and tracking expense reporting.
  • Manage calendars, schedules, and classroom/room set-ups.
  • Oversee supply purchasing, stocking, and distribution.
  • Coordinate meals and snacks for students, including allergy and dietary tracking.
  • Maintain teacher and student equipment (iPads, walkie-talkies, chargers), ensuring availability and functionality.
  • Provide on-site support during Sunday Religious School (early dismissal, secretary coverage, teacher support).
  • Collect staff requests for copies and distribute supplies

Communications & Marketing

 

  • Create flyers, posters, and promotional materials using Canva.
  • Develop and send email campaigns through Constant Contact.
  • Maintain updated email distribution lists for families and staff.
  • Support marketing and communications efforts, including social media and website updates.
  • Respond to parent inquiries by phone and email with warmth and professionalism.

Program & Event Support

  • Prepare, print, and distribute teaching materials and handouts.
  • Provide logistical support for school programs ( Religious School, Gesher programs, and B’not Mitzvah), holiday events, and family gatherings.
  • Assist with registration, enrollment, and ongoing parent communication.
  • Coordinate field trips, including transportation, permissions, and rosters.
  • Support substitute coverage when teachers are absent.

Qualifications

  • English speaking and writing skills and Hebrew( preferred).
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Proficiency with Google Suite/Microsoft Office, Canva, Constant Contact, and Shulcloud.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities.
  • Experience in administration, office management, or school operations preferred.
