The Wilshire Boulevard Temple Advancement Manager provides management and oversight for all Temple fundraising, deepening relationships with Temple members through regular communication and cultivation opportunities and serving as a member of the Senior Staff.  Responsibilities also include:

 

  • Management and oversight of the annual Temple Fund Campaign year-long strategy
    • Run the Temple Fund campaign - solicit gifts, work with other solicitors to close gifts, serve as a resource to donors and Foundations who want to make gifts
    • Create compelling messaging, solicitation materials and video communications to garner greater support
    • Work with Membership Engagement Director to develop relationships with congregants who may not currently support the Temple Fund or other fundraising initiatives
    • Create an intentional plan to involve clergy and Board members in Temple Fund solicitations
    • Create, manage and produce fundraising and stewardship events
    • Manage, plan and execute appreciation and recognition touch-points and events for donors
  • Identify new grant opportunities, supervise preparation of grant proposals and be responsible for required reporting to all funders
    • Represent the Temple with funders and grant representatives
  • Meet bi-weekly with Clergy members on specific fundraising initiatives and donor cultivation and solicitations
  • Meet regularly with development professionals for Brawerman Elementary School, Early Childhood Centers, Religious School, Camp Hess Kramer/Gindling Hilltop Camp, and the Karsh Social Service Center
    • Coordinate timelines for campaigns, communications and collections to avoid overlap of campaigns, asks and appeals.
    • Vet donor prospects with Senior Rabbi, encourage and facilitate multi-campaign coordinated asks, as appropriate
  • Coordinate fundraising activities/campaigns with the Senior Rabbi and various departments to discuss/brainstorm fundraising initiatives, and support campaign initiatives
  • Lead the staff Advancement Committee meetings and efforts
  • Provide monthly fundraising reports for the Temple Board
  • Draft, generate and process all donor gift agreements with the Temple campaigns
    • Manage the gift agreement process for all fundraising entities
    • Reconcile stock gifts and manage the acknowledgment process
    • Oversee and conduct prospect research
    • Draft correspondence and acknowledgements for Temple contributions, as needed
    • Write and coordinate Development materials, occasional Bulletin content, case statements and web content
  • Generate pledge statements for Temple commitments; follow up on collection of payments
  • Working with WBT leadership and staff, creation and launch of a WBT planned giving program and an endowment campaign
  • There is an expectation that the Advancement Manager will work on December 31st to ensure that donors who want to make end of year gifts will be able to do so
  • Supervise a Development Associate who will assist with these tasks

  

Skills and Experiences

  • Undergraduate degree required, Masters preferred
  • A minimum of 5 years’ proven success as a frontline solicitor
  • Expertise with Raiser's Edge or Salesforce software as well as regular tracking and analysis reporting, preferred
  • Persuasive writing and presentation skills and the ability to communicate to diverse audiences
  • Management/mentoring experience is preferred

  • Ease communicating with others in writing, in person and over the phone
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Familiarity with and interest in Judaism

 Additional Requirements:

  • Hybrid position with required time in the office and flexibility to work at home
  • Participation in professional development programs, including annual conferences and gatherings, is expected

 This position is located at the Erika J. Glazer Family Campus in Wilshire Center/Koreatown.

Salary Range: $95,000 - $125,000
