The Hebrew Educational Society, a thriving multi-service, comprehensive community center located in southeast Brooklyn, provides a diverse array of programs and services within a multicultural, multi-ethnic environment that is inclusive of people of all ages and ability levels. Programs include Early Childhood, After School, Camps, Athletic and Aquatic Activities, Older Adults & People with disabilities.

 

The H.E.S. Summer Day Camp is seeking a qualified individual to assume the role of summer camp Unit Head. The program consists of children within each Unit attending 45 minute – 1 hour sessions in addition to going on day, extended day and overnight trips. The position requires the individual to attend and facilitate pre-camp meetings, trainings and orientations. The groups in each Unit range in size from 10 – 25 children per group and upwards of 160 children per Unit. In addition, supervision of staff is required.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise, support and direct staff
  • Facilitate activities 
  • Maintain order in a large group setting
  • Support children’s emotional, social and physical growth within the HES Summer Camp
  • Ensure daily schedules are adhered to
  • Communication with parents / guardians
  • Safety of all staff and campers

Qualifications:

  • Must have prior camp experience or experience working with children
  • Must be outgoing, responsible and organized
  • Must be creative
  • Must be able to develop curriculum / activities
  • Prior / current supervision experience is required
  • Education / course work relating to supervision is preferred


Temporary Summer Position from: June 28, 2023 – August 18, 2023 (M-F 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)

The hours above are not inclusive of prior camp obligations, extended day and overnight trips.


Determined by prior experience and education pertaining to childhood development / supervision & camp experience
