Gann Academy is hiring a Jewish Life Coordinator. This position plays a key role in supporting Gann’s experiential Jewish education and student life programming.
The Jewish Life Coordinator helps plan and implement initiatives across Tefilah (Zman Kodesh), Shabbat and holiday programs, retreats, Israel education, student leadership, and travel. The role also provides administrative and logistical support to the Jewish Studies department and other school-wide programs. This is a hands-on, collaborative role ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys working with teens, and is eager to contribute both programmatically and operationally. The ideal candidate is a creative, reliable, and organized self-starter who’s excited about pluralistic Jewish life and passionate about building community through active engagement and strong follow-through.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Work closely with colleagues and school administrators to help plan and carry out retreats, grade-level shabbatonim, holiday programs, and other Jewish life events
- Support students as a Jewish identity advisor, serving as a mentor and resource as they explore their Jewish journeys
- Lead Zman Kodesh two mornings per week, as well as on days when Zman Kodesh is held for special observances (e.g., Rosh Chodesh, holidays)
- Assist with the coordination and delivery of Jewish educational travel experiences, such as the senior Israel trip, alternative break trips, and grade-wide travel programs
- Contribute to Israel education programming by collaborating on events like Yom HaShoah, Yom HaZikaron, and Yom HaAtzmaut
- Help to organize and support school-wide events through mentorship, logistics, and behind-the- scenes coordination
- Provide classroom support and coverage, including occasional substitution when needed
- Assist the Admissions team with event preparation, logistics, and interviews to engage prospective students
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across all departments
- Attend and participate in staff and department meetings
- Assist with substitution when able
Professional Development, Growth, and Training
- Attend and participate in all faculty/staff work-day programs, in-service training (including both August and June in-service days), orientation programs, seminars, and safety training/drills
- Pursue professional development opportunities in or out of school; display willingness and ability to grow, learn, and practice self-reflection; work with members of the faculty and administration on educational and pedagogical growth
Administration and Logistics
- Handle day-of logistics for programs and events, including room setup, signage, and supply management
- Run errands as needed, including purchasing supplies, picking up food or materials, or coordinating deliveries
- Make copies, assemble materials, organize storage spaces, and help maintain shared program resources
- Support communication and documentation tasks, including email follow-ups, attendance tracking, and form collection
- Work behind the scenes to ensure Jewish life events run smoothly, with a willingness to step in wherever needed
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS
- Experience working with teens, ideally in a Jewish summer camp or youth group environment
- A background in Jewish studies and/or knowledge of Jewish texts and traditions
- Strong interpersonal skills and well-developed empathy
- Able to work within a pluralistic Jewish setting
- Able to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and community members
- Self-starter with good organizational and planning skills
- Able to prioritize multiple concurrent projects
- Able to assimilate information with accuracy and consistent attention to detail
- Excellent computer skills in Microsoft suite; able to quickly learn school-specific software
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Bachelors degree is preferred

- Salary is $50,000-$60,000, depending on experience

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Physical demands include dexterity for office machine/supply operation including but not limited to computer, telephone, electronic calculator, copy machine, and printers. Stooping, bending, and reaching for files or supplies, and sitting or standing for extended periods of time are common.
