Upper School (grades 5-8) Jewish Studies Teacher
Beginning 2023-24 School Year

 
Qualified candidates will ideally have a strong background in Tanach, Rabbinic literature, Jewish History and Israel Education. Ideal candidates will be comfortable in and committed to working in a pluralistic Jewish setting that welcomes students from all Jewish backgrounds. We seek educators who are committed to collaborating and growing in their teaching practice, supporting diverse learners in the classroom, and able to serve as role models for engaged and joyful Jewish practice.

  • Responsibilities include teaching Jewish Studies and facilitating Tefillah.
  • Candidate should possess the ability and willingness to work with students in various group settings using multiple teaching methods.
  • Candidate will lead an Advisory class to foster year-long academic, social and emotional growth for a small group of students in conjunction with other faculty members and the school counselor.
  • Candidate will teach one elective per semester. Electives are a faculty members’ personal choice and do not need to be related to their core subject.
  • Previous Jewish Studies teaching experience required.
  • Effective classroom management is important.
  • Experience in an interdisciplinary environment with an emphasis on collaboration is especially valuable.
  • Bachelor’s degree and advanced Jewish education required.
  • Full-time or part time salaried position. 
  • Candidate should be comfortable with technology and open to acquiring new technology skills. 
  • Regular attendance at faculty meetings and open houses is required. As our school is community centered, attendance at additional school activities is strongly encouraged.
  • General pay range $65,000-90,000, salary may be higher depending on experience.
