Upper School Math Teacher and TK-8 Math Chair

Responsibilities Include:

  • Review and update standards-based math curriculum, TK-8.
  • Teach upper school (5th-8th grade) students. Courses may include: Pre-Algebra, Algebra, and Geometry.
  • Lead an Advisory class to foster year-long academic, social and emotional growth for a small group of students in conjunction with other faculty members and the school counselor.
  • Teach an elective class, content of which to be determined in collaboration with supervisor.
  • Assist all teachers TK-8 with development and implementation of high quality, challenging math instruction.
  • Assist with implementation of math support and enrichment programs in all classes TK-8.
  • Develop and implement math placement exams and work with parents and students to identify appropriate math class placement for upper school students.
  • Communicate with high schools regarding math level placement for outgoing 8th graders.
  • Attend all faculty meetings.
  • Participate in special school events including, but not limited to, Open House, Back to School Night, 8th grade graduation, curriculum nights, special student performances.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Experience/Education:

  • Four-year degree from a college or university. Major or 24 semester hours in Mathematics. Masters degree in mathematics or related field preferred.
  • Valid CA teaching credential, either a K-6 multiple subject teaching credential or single subject teaching credential in Mathematics preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years previous Middle School and/or High School teaching experience required.
  • Excellent classroom management and leadership skills.
