Description

Are you a passionate Jewish educator with a knack for innovation? Do you believe in the power of engaging, experiential learning? We're looking for a dynamic Jewish Educator to join our team in a part-time independent contractor role to promote and evaluate our new immersive video game, Herod's Masada.

In this role, you'll be at the forefront of integrating cutting-edge technology with Jewish education. You'll work directly with educators and leading Jewish educational organizations to bring this exciting game into classrooms, gather valuable feedback, and help shape the future of Jewish learning through Jewish- and Israel-themed gaming.

Project Overview:

Herod's Masada is a captivating Fortnite-based video game rooted in Jewish and Israeli history, designed to immerse students in a pivotal moment in time. Along with a comprehensive teacher's guide, the game provides a unique platform for educators to lead discussions on Jewish identity, Israel, and core values such as leadership, all based on students' in-game experiences.

Responsibilities:

  • Promote Herod's Masada: Actively introduce and promote the Herod's Masada video game and its accompanying teacher's guide to Jewish educators.

  • Partner Engagement: Collaborate with key Jewish educational organizations such as The Jewish Education Project, M2: The Institute for Experiential Jewish Education and Prizmah to introduce the game to their staff and networks of educators.

  • Educator Recruitment: Identify and secure participation of a test-group of educators who will commit to using Herod's Masada with their classes.

  • Feedback Collection: Systematically collect feedback from participating educators and students regarding their experiences with the game and its educational impact.

  • Learning Assessment: Analyze feedback and assess the educational outcomes and learnings from the game's implementation in various educational settings.

  • Reporting: Prepare comprehensive reports for the Jewish & Israel Gaming Development team, detailing findings, insights, and recommendations.

Key Learning Objectives:

Your work will be instrumental in helping us answer critical questions, including:

  • How can we refine Herod's Masada to maximize its effectiveness as an educational tool for educators?

  • What insights can we glean from this game's reception and usage that will inform the development of our next Jewish/Israel-themed educational game?

Qualifications:

  • Experience is a must: You should have demonstrated experience as a Jewish educator / program professional, whether in a summer camp, day school, congregational setting, or other formal/informal Jewish educational environments.

  • Jewish education degree preferred.

  • Passion for integrating technology and innovative approaches into Jewish education.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with educators and organizational partners.

  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently to achieve project goals.

  • Software - familiarity with the following tools is a plus:

    • Video Games

    • Google Suite

    • Fortnite

    • Social Media

    • Discord
