The Head of School (HOS) at Gottesman RTW Academy (GRTWA) is the principal executive leader responsible for guiding the school’s mission to provide a strong Jewish education in a nurturing and inclusive environment. In partnership with the Board of Trustees, the HOS will inspire academic excellence and ensure GRTWA remains a vibrant community day school that celebrates the richness of Jewish life. This is a unique opportunity to lead a thriving institution that welcomes families from diverse Jewish backgrounds and is dedicated to providing individualized attention to every student. The HOS will be a visible presence within the school and Jewish Community, fostering strong relationships with students, staff, families, donors, and alumni, while also serving as GRTWA’s primary ambassador, educational visionary, and lead fundraiser.  

Educational Leadership: Candidates should have demonstrated success as a teacher and senior educational leader, ideally in a Jewish day school or similar environment, with experience in strategic planning and academic innovation. A Master’s or Doctorate in a relevant field is preferred.

Jewish Knowledge and Leadership: A strong commitment to Jewish education, traditions, and the values of a pluralistic Jewish day school is essential. Strong connection to the state of Israel and zionist values and culture. The candidate should be able to inspire the community in their Jewish identity. Familiarity with Israeli culture and spoken conversational Hebrew is highly valued.

Community Engagement and Relationship Building: The role requires cultivating strong relationships with various stakeholders, fostering a positive school environment, and possessing excellent communication skills to articulate the school’s mission.

Financial and Operational Acumen: Collaborating closely with the CFO to ensure financial stability, including budgeting and fundraising, is necessary, along with an understanding of effective operational management.

Personal Attributes: Key personal qualities include strong leadership skills, the ability to inspire staff, exceptional interpersonal skills, and a commitment to student success and educational excellence.
