Job Description:
The Diller Teen Fellows program is an immersive leadership program inviting a select group of Jewish 10th and 11th graders from 6 continents and 32 communities to step up, lead their communities, and repair the world. The Kaiserman JCC seeks a dynamic and caring informal Jewish educator to lead this program, so that 20 local teens/year have a transformative Jewish leadership experience. This program is a partnership between the Kaiserman JCC and the Helen Diller Family Foundation.

The Diller Teen Fellows coordinator will report to the Director of Engagement at the Kaiserman JCC. The coordinator will recruit and supervise two junior counselors and one program intern a year.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Education: Lead workshops, shabbaton, and retreats throughout the year in accordance with the Diller mission, vision, and goals and utilizing the Diller curriculum.
  • Engagement: Forge positive mentoring connections for 20 program participants, two junior Counselors, and a program intern.
  • Recruitment: Coordinate the marketing, recruitment, interviewing and selection process for participants. Promote the program throughout our community and online.
  • Program design: Shape local curriculum including workshops, shabbatons, week-long seminars, and impact projects.
  • Budgeting: Carefully manage the program budget.
  • Stakeholders: Help parents of Fellows understand the program and contribute to the experience of the current cohort. Create and maintain relationships with local alumni to strengthen program design and impact.
  • Logistics: Plan and manage all logistics related to workshops and retreats, Israel education, and travel planning.
  • Kaiserman JCC: Support Kaiserman JCC teen and community-wide programming as a member of the Engagement Department.

Successful candidates for this position will possess the following skills, knowledge and abilities:

  • Informal/experiential Jewish educational background and experience, including proven success developing personal connections with and mentoring Jewish
  • Familiarity with social and emotional learning concepts.
  • Strong group facilitation, education, and communication skills required to effectively interact with, lead, and inspire a diverse body of teens, parents, community leaders, and partners, including Diller International staff.
  • Understanding of and appreciation for Israel, global Jewish peoplehood, and Jewish pluralism. Extended time in Israel is a plus.
  • Regular availability during evenings and weekends. Once it is COVID-safe to do so, there will be required travel to Israel for three weeks during the summer and additional travel for training and professional development opportunities throughout the year.
  • Candidates are required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.

Candidates with the following additional skills and knowledge will be strongly considered:

  • Knowledge and prior experience of the Philadelphia Jewish community
  • Working knowledge of Hebrew.
  • Administrative and management skills including budgeting, social media outreach, and communications.
  • Excellent presentation skills and poise to communicate with the larger Kaiserman JCC community of staff, supporters, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to collaborate in an international setting and to work with and contribute to an international peer network of Diller Teen Fellow Coordinators.
  • BA in Education, Psychology, Social Work, Jewish Studies, or related field

The salary range for this position is between $50,000-$55,000. Kaiserman JCC offers a competitive compensation and benefits package including medical, vision, Rx, dental, disability and life insurance, vacation and Jewish Holiday time and a 401K retirement savings program.
