Stephen Wise Free Synagogue is seeking a friendly, knowledgeable, and patient Mahjong Instructor to lead weekly sessions. The ideal candidate will be passionate about the game of Mahjong and enthusiastic about teaching it to new players.
Duties include:
Teaching:
- Lead engaging Mahjong sessions, introducing game rules, tile strategies, and scoring systems.
- Helping intermediate players with game strategy
- Foster a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere that promotes learning and friendly competition.
- Maintain a positive and respectful relationship with participants and on-site staff.
Logistics:
- Set up game boards and materials before each session; clean up and store supplies afterward.
- Help distribute players for optimal games
- Communicate with Rabbi Dalia Samansky regarding scheduling, attendance, and session feedback.
Requirements:
- Proficient in American Mahjong rules and gameplay
- Prior experience teaching or leading game-based activities.
- Comfortable working with adults of varying skill levels and ages. (mostly seniors)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Dependable, organized, and self-motivated.
Schedule & Location:
Wednesday from 12:15-3:15 (play is from 12:30-3:00)
