itrek introduces tomorrow’s leaders in business, law, policy and STEM to Israel, helping them experience the country firsthand through peer-led, week-long treks. itrek’s unique peer-led model empowers students at the world’s top graduate programs to craft and lead an authentic experience for their classmates; experiences that reflect the diverse interests of the program’s participants and fields of study. Whether it’s meeting with members of Knesset, justices of the Supreme Court or technology companies, every trek brings Israel to life through a combination of education, culture and fun. Since its founding in 2011, over 20,000 graduate students across 103 nationalities have visited Israel with itrek, returning to campus with a more nuanced understanding and appreciation of Israel. 

As itrek enters its second decade, it is building on its core strengths and expanding beyond the graduate student audience to help bring even more influential people to Israel. Through itrek Launchpad, the organization will reach additional pockets of influence by partnering with mission-aligned organizations and leadership/fellowship networks to help them launch new trips to Israel or elevate existing trips. itrek is building a new product channel to serve both Jewish and non-Jewish organizations whose constituents will benefit from a nuanced trip to Israel.

Position Overview

The Program Director, itrek Launchpad is a vital part of the Programming Team and manages itrek’s newest program. The Program Director will lead the two-year pilot program including the recruitment of partners, management of the portfolio of treks, testing hypotheses, tracking and capturing key learnings, and evaluation of the program. In addition, the Program Director will have an important role in determining the growth of itrek Launchpad beyond the pilot into a comprehensive program offering from itrek. The Program Director serves as the central point of contact between itrek and the partner organizations and is responsible for comprehensive planning, seamless execution, strong follow-up, and evaluation. This position will work closely with the itrek Executive Team in the planning stages of the pilot and receive support from the Programming Team.

Reporting to the Chief Program Officer, the ideal candidate has a strong background in program management, experience building partner relationships, is detail-oriented and excels in implementing and monitoring processes. The ideal candidate also has a learning mindset and strong connection to Israel, understanding its complexity and the importance of a meaningful trip to Israel. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of the strategic operating plan for the pilot program in partnership with various internal departments
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the program
  • Recruit and onboard targeted partners to participate in the pilot and identify new partners according to the organization’s strategy for beyond the pilot years
  • Lead and implement an ongoing learning process for the pilot program, including analysis, advanced reporting, recommendations for alterations or improvements both within the pilot years and for the expansion of the program, in collaboration with the Chief Program Officer
  • Optimize the partners’ experience and act as the main point person for trek-related operations
  • Provide support (from mentorship to hands-on execution depending on the partner) and monitor the partners in finalizing itineraries and content, prior and during the trek
  • Establish and lead the implementation of a process-driven system, inclusive of internal checks and balances, for all stages of the Launchpad program
  • Work closely with the Educational Team on planning, implementation, and execution of content-based activities (training program, pre-trek, post-trek, and on-the-ground)
  • Work closely with the Operations Team to ensure the implementation of tools, processes, measurement, and evaluation that support the Launchpad pilot and growth beyond
  • Work closely with the Marketing Team to develop program materials and collateral
  • Work with the Israel Office, managing the coordination of on-the-ground logistics, if needed 
  • Hire and build a team over time to scale Launchpad and support the execution of the work

Skills and Qualifications 

  • 10 years of program management experience, including people management
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Passion for itrek’s mission
  • Strong connection to and knowledge of Israel 
  • Highly skilled in building and managing a team and client relationships
  • Solution-oriented, strategic and innovative thinker
  • Self-motivated with a positive “can do” attitude, strong collaboration and interpersonal skills
  • Possess a learning mindset and skilled in testing and tracking ideas, synthesizing learning and developing recommendations
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational, time management, and execution skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time
  • Must be able to work effectively with a team in a hybrid environment 
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills in English required
  • Willing and able to travel within the US, Israel and abroad 
  • Proven proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, Google Workspace, and comfortable with technology to learn and utilize project management software tools

Salary range $90,000-$110,000; commensurate with experience

itrek is a hybrid work environment with a minimum of two days per week in the office. To be employed by itrek you must be fully vaccinated and to work in the office/attend in-person company events, you either need to be up-to-date with your booster shot or comply with a testing requirement.
