Role Overview

Brown RISD Hillel (“BRH”) is seeking an enthusiastic, highly organized Operations Coordinator to join our growing team of dynamic and creative professionals. The Coordinator is an integral member of the Brown RISD Hillel staff and will actively impact the behind the scenes aspects of our organization. With a calm demeanor, an extreme attention to detail, and a service-oriented mentality, you will help to ensure that our programs and activities have the resources and tools to be highly successful. This is a full-time position with occasional evening/weekend hours.

Located in the heart of College Hill, Brown RISD Hillel is a leading campus student center, supporting a wide array of Jewish cultural and spiritual programming. BRH’s 25,000 square foot Weiner Center is a bustling hub for student and university events, featuring a full-size educational kitchen alongside large multipurpose indoor and outdoor spaces. BRH’s professional team has recently completed a two-year strategic process, and has developed an outside-the-box approach to programming, collaboration, and student leadership. This year, BRH served 2,400 unique students through a variety of programs and relationships. 

What You’ll Do

  • Manage the front desk and reception, welcoming students, guests, and visitors
  • Coordinate logistics and event registration for Shabbat, Jewish holidays, and special events 
  • Provide hands on operational support at programs and key events to ensure that programs run smoothly
  • Manage web platforms, including web editing and updates

On a day to day basis you will:

  • Coordinate space reservations and all related logistics for room usage (setups/breakdowns, catering, building hours/security staffing, technology, and custodial needs)
  • Filter and direct inquiries related to programming and student opportunities, including managing Hillel email account
  • Maintain digital programming calendar
  • Assist with accounts payable
  • Supervise student employees (create shift schedules, ensure coverage, and prepare assignments)
  • Keep our supplies inventoried, stocked, and organized 
  • Maintain office security by following safety and security procedures and controlling access via the reception desk; serve as point of contact for after-hours security staff to share pertinent information

What You’ll Bring to the Job

  • A completed bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • An engaging attitude and welcoming personality
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Resourceful, proactive, with an inclination to take initiative
  • Strong technical skills with essential programs, including Microsoft Word, Google Suite, and Excel, and the agility and resourcefulness to learn new technologies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exemplary time management skills, including the capacity to juggle competing priorities and deadlines, and to remain flexible within a fast-paced environment
  • Work well in a group setting and with multiple staff and priorities to support
  • Preferred: Familiarity with Jewish calendar and practices/ritual observance

What You’ll Receive

  • Competitive salary in the nonprofit marketplace. The salary range for this role is $50,000 - $53,000.
