Confirmation Teacher (8th through 10th Grade)

Congregation Kol Ami, an intimate and dynamic congregation in Elkins Park, PA, is hiring an energetic and creative Confirmation Academy Teacher (Grades 8-10) for the 2022-2023 academic year.  Confirmation Academy teachers will teach a core curriculum to prepare Jewish young adults to find their unique paths as Jews while remaining connected to the Jewish community.  Teachers may also work with the Religious School Director to offer courses that reflect their own interests or expertise.  

The ideal candidate will have experience teaching in some capacity and demonstrate enthusiasm towards Jewish life and Jewish education.  We expect teachers to work collaboratively to write lesson plans that create meaningful Jewish experiences and foster positive Jewish identity.  Teachers will also be asked to attend three to four faculty meetings over the course of the academic year.

Qualifications:

• Prior experience either teaching or as a camp counselor or other experience working with adolescents
• Knowledge of Jewish text and the Jewish life cycle
• A positive Jewish identity and a positive attitude towards Jews of all backgrounds
• Enthusiasm towards working with a diverse population of students and their parents

Confirmation Academy meets on Wednesday evenings, 6:30pm-8:00pm, beginning on September 14.
